Plus, we don't see posts from people who quit smoking for vaping and eventually quit vaping. Looking into some of the old posts in the history of ECF I suspect that there are many who fit this category. These are people who quit vaping after quitting smoking and no longer feel the need to post at ECF anymore.

Perhaps a separate ECF forum for those managed to quit smoking by vaping and then quit vaping would be useful?

That's a very good point. That's why I was wondering if there are people who did break their nicotene addiction completely but still genuinely enjoy vaping so use zero nicotine juices.

Still- I'm sure they are out there but a very small minority.

These are all great suggestions. I went from 17+ yrs of 2+ PAD, to exclusive vaping the day my kit arrived. That was 1-20-12. Now from what I've read that is not the norm. I was mentally ready to stop smoking. But, like a lot of folks here I enjoyed smoking. I will vape forever. I have a few neighbors that I've turned on to vaping, and 2 have been doing a 50/50 mix for a couple of weeks. One of them just told me yesterday that he hasn't had a smoke in 2 days and plans not to. There is a member in another thread that I'm involved w who quit both, and he is still active here. His user name is LostVapeMonster. His avatar is the blonde guy from the tv show lost. I keep saying "he" I'm not sure of gender. Anyway I would PM that person and ask for some insight.
Good luck.

Going from smoking to vaping is easy, I haven't touched a stinkie since I started. going from vaping to nothing, not so much. I tried to lower my nic to 6mg after just 2 weeks and I almost smoked again. I am staying at 10mg for a few more weeks before I try another drop and not doing such a drastic drop ever again. (18 first week (way too much), 12 second (perfect), 6 third (death))...but my goal is to stop eventually...

I think the majority of people here on the ECF who started vaping - has quit cigarettes completely. For those who haven't, it's just a matter of time IMO.
This really is the easiest way to quit because you can still get almost everything you needed whilst smoking, (except the bad stuff) just much healthier, zero stink, much less or zero guilt or even PRIDE! You still get clouds or plumes of vapor to blow smoke rings, more flavor, TH, hand to mouth movement, can vape indoors and many other places you can't smoke. If you are a shy or stealth vaper, no one will be able to tell when you walk into a room that you just had a vape... They may think you smell good enough to eat though, or they may get a sudden unexplained urge for cake or cookies or strawberries and cream...:p

And yes, there are plenty of people here on zero nic juice.

I'm going to throw my :2c: in here again because I feel its pertinent to the topic. I am about to have surgery. Back disc fusion. Which means over the next year tissue growth is important. Nicotine inhibits tissue growth. When I switched to vaping I was basically chain vaping 24mg. I knew I had to cut way down, so I started ordering lower content juice. I kept a tank full of 12 to start and would suck on that all day and when I felt a bit edgy I would take a couple of whacks off of an 18mg eGo. After a week I filled my chain vape tank w 6 mg juice and used the same approach. Now I vape 0 all day and every now and then I puff on 6 or 8. I have a whole bunch of 18 and 24 juice because I anticipated it taking much longer than it did. So now I am ordering a bunch of 0 juice and mixing my own concoctions to cut down the strong stuff to a managable level.

That is awesome to hear! Very encouraging for those of us hoping to do the same.

Good luck with your surgery!

Took me about two days to fully switch to vaping. And it only took that long because my brain was not convinced that i had smoked a cigarette even though I had a hell of a nicotine buzz. Its been almost a week since i started using my vape exclusively. I bought two sample kits from JC. one with out nicotine and one with the medium strength. I carry two cartos with me one with the nicotine and one without. I randomly swap them through out the day. I can imagine switching to the non nicotine juice full time in a few weeks.

Good luck.

Good luck with the surgery and glad that you have your PV to help you with the lowering of the nic:)

As you can probably read form some of these responses, it's different for everyone. Took me just 2 days to go from an 11 year smoker to quitting. Day 1 of using my PV I was reaching for it over my analogs anyway. I just wanted to finish my current open pack and brand new pack I had left. Once those were gone I was completely done. As far as how long to quit vaping, well can't really help there yet. Truth is, I don't particularly want to quit vaping. I enjoy it in a way I never enjoyed analogs(and I actually enjoyed smoking.) I can however go much longer without using it unlike analogs. Felt like you needed to use those more, with vaping I might use it for an extended amount of time at once or not at all for awhile. So don't try to force anything. Gradually extend your time between vaping, lower nicotine levels in your juice and just ween off vaping if thats what you want to do.

They can have my provari when they pull my dead cold fingers from around it.

I smoked for 2 decades because I enjoyed it. I like vaping even more. I'm lowering the nic levels in slow stages (7mg/ml now), but I doubt I'll ever get rid of it. I function so much better on it.

We must also remember how powerful the oral fixation is. The ritualistic habit of smoking or vaping fulfills a strong unconscious urge. That is why many people who gave up smoking in the past start overeating.

These darn juice flavors are making me over eat;)

I plan to quit vaping as well, tho Im just 3 weeks into vaping after a 2 year relapse back to smoking. Im taking it slow this time as I dont want to relapse again. Im on 6mg nic as anything higher gives me the shakes, but I smoke maybe 1 cigarette every couple days as Im still craving them. (Have damn near a carton sitting in the freezer, havent quite got the nerve yet to throw it out) One day at a time...
