Hi Solace!

I've been totally cig free for 43 days. The aching lungs went on for about three weeks. However, I DID find that my body didn't accept any juice mixes with PG in it. My legs would break out in a rash, My IBS would kick in and I'd lose my voice as well. My throat was always itchy and burning too, along with all-day heartburn. After some experimenting with various PG/VG ratios, I had to switch to an all VG juice and immediately the said symptoms went away. Drinking LOTS OF WATER aids with the detox process and flushes the ciggy toxins from your body. To my understanding alot of vapers have trouble with PG. Some of us have a sensitivity to it. I'd recommend experimenting like I did if your symptoms persist.

Best Wishes,

Bri

when I first started, I was using the Volcano juices (not sure of their ratio) and some 100% PG- after a lot of trial and error over the past 2 years, I've settled on 70/30 PG/VG. no more tummy aches or burning throat! I'm not after a wicked TH- I'll use my Volcano juices if that's what I want at the moment- I like vapor and flavor above all else.

I agree- water is a must!! coffee in the morning, tea when I get home from work, H2O the rest of the day.

I actually went to the doctor yesterday because I was feeling like so much ...- told him I was vaping, no more cigs.. showed him how it all works, he was very receptive for an old fart! gave me an inhaler to help keep my lungs open and clearing out, but said my symptoms are typical of others he's seen quit analogs. he's excited not to see me a few times a year with ear infections and bronchitis. I can say the same.

congrats to everyone here- sometimes the switch is painless, sometimes we go through stuff like this, but we come out healthier in the long run, and that's what matters!

I started vaping last Saturday morning after over 30 yrs. of 2 packs a day, I did cough a lot the first 3 days and I did smoke 3 analogs a day till yesterday (I managed to smoke only 2). Today I am vaping only and feel ok, coughing less and sleeping well. Of course this does not mean that I am detoxed already, I know that it's a long way to go, but I am really surprised how easy it has been quitting.

I have been free of the cigs now for 4 1/2 months. For me it wasn't very hard to switch to vaping. Vaping completely replaced smoking. It was basically easy. No withdrawals. When I wanted a smoke, I vaped as much as I wanted. Then I was all good again.
Some minor symptoms:
1) dry mouth, dry skin and constipation. Constipation eased and went away after 2 weeks. Drink water folks, it's a good hydrator and body cleaner.
2) Phlegm spitting for about a week in the early AM, then it went completely away.
3) Noticeable larger bowel movements for the first month. (Sorry, just sharing the clinical details)
4) Smell and taste improvement was gradual over six weeks. At 6 weeks my taste buds exploded with flavors.
5) I very soon, (at seven days) noticed how disgusting cig smokers smell. WOW, that was me.
6) After 10 days, I never even thought about a real cig.
7) Teeth got cleaner without a dental visit at about 10 days.
I hope this helps others.

I'm 4 weeks in and so far my symptoms are pretty much exactly the same as yours. I haven't noticed any real change in sense of smell or taste so I'm hoping this kicks in shortly and it did with you!

day 8.5

i still battle the need for a smoke for a bit when i wake up. but i eventually get over it. yesterday was the first day i didnt bum a reg from someone. with you vaping and smoking for a year or two.... i bet its going to be hard for you to quit. good luck and stick with it.

congrats!! good for you!

it's not as difficult as it has been in the past- I put my foot down on myself this time, and I'm chain vaping like the FDA is cracking down tomorrow. LOL I'm sure in a week or two I'll be able to cut back to a "normal" vaping regiment.

gonna steal that one if you don't mind. it has always come down to the simple fact, that in the past, we did not put our foot's down. (for the spelling Nazis). way different experience when the brain is in agreement with the body. bottom line the only way to successfully quit, is you actually have to really want to quit, and stop negotiating with your bad habits.

I quit smoking 3/19/12... So just passed one year mark. I quit the day I started e-cigs... I smoked 2 packs a day. Cough month 1. Acne bad first couple months. Still have occasional pimple. (never had any as a teen) other then that nada. It's wonderful to be able to smell again and my sense of taste much improved... Never realized how much I stunk till I quit. I can smell a smoker or someone who lives with a smoker easily. I have no desire for a cig ever. First few months was tempted to try but that passed.
Every journey is different... I'm enjoying mine! My mg is down to 0,6,or12 depending on my mood... I can go to 0 forever if I have to but don't see a reason to unless the FDA screws us all... I feel bad for the smokers who have to try vape! I NEVER would have quit smokes without e-cigs! Good luck everyone..

I'm 11 days cig free and I feel *loads* better than I did when I started this thread.

my skin cleared up, my chest feels lighter, stopped choking on the crud coming out of my lungs!

very happy I finally made the permanent switch! my kids and bf are wicked happy too.
this is an all too familiar story at work. i'm hearing this wherever i go. these e-cigs can actually repair marriages.

I was at a family gathering yesterday and some of them smoke. I couldn't be around them outside or in- they stunk! I couldn't believe I used to smell like that.. my clothes, the Jeep.. I apologized to my kids and Andy when we got home.. oh man.. so happy I quit for good.

Congrats on your choice to get away from those nasty analogs! I have one of those little "Apps" on my phone that reminds me how long its been since my last analog, how much I've saved in $ cold hard cash, etc. I dont "watch" it..only occassionally check in when someone I knew realizes i DONT SMOKE ANYMORE! (once/twice a month). What I'll share (seems common) is I was a bit foggy after getting off the analogs. I'm sure it vaires from ex smoker to ex smoker by how long and much and nicotine level you smoked.
