Great personal story, mico2222. Some of us (the family) felt the same way when my sis-in-law was dying from failed lungs. Had she actually asked for a cigarette, I think we'd have seen to it she got one. Sad that it comes to that point, but once you're there, why the h--- not?

Congrats on your own smoking cessation victory!

My 3 month anniv. was yesterday (after 47 years of smoking.) I am so thankful for ecigs!!

I smoked my last nasty cig on a business trip August 5 2008, August 6 2008 i started vaping and have not looked back. How about you?

Aug 31 bought my first ecig & haven't had an analog since, the first couple days I felt like lighting one up but a couple hits on my ecig & all was good.

I was one of the lucky ones - 2 weeks ago I picked up an ecig and have never looked back. I was a PAD 38-year smoker, and I just sort of happened. I know for a fact I'm done with analogs. Do I notice much difference - I dunno, but I went out for breakfast today and I don't ever remember poached eggs and bacon tasting so good.....LOL Now, if Malborough made stinkies in Belgian Chcolate flaor - or Tribeca - perhaps it would have been harder!

I had few cigs while drinking last weekend, my vape ran out of juice and I was heavily inebriated. Been vaping 99% of the time for almost 2 months. I used to like marb 27s, last weekend it just tasted terrible, not at all like how I remebered. I don't really plan on smoking another, but to be honest I may. One thing is for sure, I will never go back to regularly smoking cigs, I just like vape better, no chance of going back.

Today makes 14 days, 3 hours, 4 minutes and about 35 seconds. :)

Had a couple of cravings, just vaped more. Been drinking a lot more water than I normally would so I guess that's an added benefit!

Making it 2 weeks cigarette free is a fantastic milestone. I think my first couple of weeks I had a few cravings, but like you, I vaped more. And am glad I got advice from folks in ECF to up my water intake. Also upped my saline nasal spray because the first few weeks I seemed to constantly have "cruddies" in my nose (gross, I know, but it's my experience). So congrats on 2 weeks ! :)

Oh man you don't even want to know. My list of medical issues is more than a typed page long. I am currently waiting for surgery for a tumor that is most likely benign but it's spitting out some nasty hormones. On top of my other crap. So in general, I feel awful every day. Anyways, back to vaping :), it's hard for me to tell what I feel is from quitting and starting vaping and what is from my medical issues. I started this whole thing because I am DONE with feeling sick day in and day out. Why make it worse for myself by using stinkies? Even a slight improvement in my health is better than none at all. I'm taking back my life, however I have to do it.

Just wondering if there was some magical point in which most people felt more energetic, less winded, etc. Or what improvements did you feel? I had been smoking so long (23 years) I don't remember what I felt like before.

I'm sorry to hear about all of your medical issues & I'll be saying a special prayer that all goes well for you with your surgery. Good for you! Way to take control back!

As others have said its different for everyone. I smoked for 15 years & started smoking at 15. When I finally made the switch to ecigs I was going through a carton a week. It took me about a month to get past the night sweats & tiredness I was feeling. I was constantly tired! I also kept getting canker sores the first couple of weeks & it made vaping painful. I can't remember exactly when I started to feel better I just remember walking the dog one day...as we finished up our walk he started running & I started running with him. It didn't hit me what I'd just done until we got to the door & I realized that I wasn't wheezing & struggling to breathe. Then a couple of months in I had a doctors visit & my blood pressure was down & she asked what I'd been doing differently & honestly the only thing different was me not smoking.

OP, thanks for sharing that story. Condolences on the loss of your father in law.

I had my last analog on 26 Aug. It's been almost 4 months, and I cannot be more grateful for anything else. A couple of weeks ago though, I did deliberately ask a friend for one puff on the analog just to see how it tastes like. and here's the mindblowing thing: it tastes and smells absolutely TERRIBLE. it reminded me of how things were when I first started out smoking. It smells bad, tastes bad and leaves an awful aftertaste in my mouth for a long time after.

looking back, it's baffling how much i loved cigarettes and their tastes and smell.

3 years, and feeling fabulous! No stinky clothes, no hacking cough, no more asthma, and I rarely get sick anymore.

Wow !! Three years is incredible. Your experience of no hacking, no asthma and less getting sick is really good to hear about. Your sharing this gives me hope that my health will continue to improve as my vaping journey continues. Thanks !

I feel for you. Bet it is tough when the symptoms of quitting are combined with other health issues. One thing I believe is that you will feel better the longer you are cigarette free. Everyone's experience and timeline is different. There have been no earth shattering moments for me. But I noticed after a couple of weeks that I was walking up stairs and was not out of breath. When I noticed that, I walked back down and back up again and smiled. About that same time my friends said that they couldn't hear my cough a block away. After about a month, I just felt better. A general sense of feeling healthier.

I wish you well on working on your health issues and also on your vaping journey. This forum has been a HUGE part of my staying smoke free. The support and information has been priceless. Hope you find it the same or better.
