still just under a week with my new eGo, and wondering how long should a carto last? I got five with my kit, and i thought they were supposed to last at least a week . . .
i used two smoke two and half packs a day, i'm still smoking a few analogs, and vaping quite a bit - just seems like i'm filling them alot, and they don't last too long . . .
maybe i'm not doing something right? Any assistance appreciated!!

What cartos are you using? And exactly what juice (what PG/VG)

I alternate 2 main cartos and occasionally vape a few others.

I use thin clear juice in my Boge standard resistance on the 510 and Riva (Vapor4Life WOWbacco) and my current Boge is on its 6th week of use (a new record for me). The performance went down slowly after the second week but I am still getting decent vapes out of it, there is no sediment in that that juice, I haven't singed it, the center channel has not gotten crooked, That carto is happy as a clam and I just can't give up on it yet. That is extreme though, I usually get 3-4 weeks out of a Boge if I am using it almost 1/2 the time.

My V4L cartos on my KR8 do not last as long but I have been using some 70pg/30vg in them and now I find 20% VG or less (i.e. thinner) keeps my Boges working well longer than they did with 70pg/30vg. So I need to get different juice and try V4L cartos with the thinner juice. Right now I only get a week of decent use out of a V4L carto if I am putting 70/30 juices in.

(yeah it's weird - I vape the thin V4L juice on the 510, and non-V4L juice on the V4L KR8). I am down to low nic so I want the extra heat of the V4L on my no-nic juice and the WOWbacco w/ 4mg nic is in the Boge 510.

Re filling - maybe you should try jumbos - I think there are ones for 510 at Ikenvapes and for KR8 at nHaler and for 801 at either Madvapes or Gotvapes? I am not a heavy vaper like you. If you vape very heavily then maybe you need a juice-box mod you can stick bottles into. I also am not using low resistance cartos. Low resistance will run through the juice faster.

What cartos are you using? If they have inner donut-shape seal and no defined center air channel, I hate those and get such bad reuse out of them that I will never use a 2nd one.

Juice capacity is the limiting factor. Most people who like cartos like them because they hold more juice and are easy to carry for spares when you are out and about. You can refill them over and over until you sense the taste dying out, then you chunk them and open up a new one. Fill them with a syringe and let them sit for a few hours to overnight to let the juice wick into the filler or just top them off frequently instead of waiting for them to dry out.

Thanks all, to clarify, i'm using an atty + cartridge, from Gatorvapor. Their juice came with my new kit, 8 mg winston light, and i also bought a mango. 5 cartridges came with the kit too. I've already gone thru 2 in about 5 days, but i'm still learning, I guess i don't want to overfill them, and have a mess, and not sure how many drops i can actually put in them!!
Guess i need to look into a cartomizer, sounds like that might be what i need . . .

Also different cartos have different life spans depending on how well they are made and how much filler is in them. I hate an overstuffed carto. It will clog up faster. But I used to use cartos that only lasted about two days. I have been buying Ikenvape cartos & they last weeks if it is a good one. And keep them wet. I refill often; long before they need it.

Re syringes - with stuffing cartos some people load the the juice capacity of the carto into a syringe and stick it down between the cotton and the metal wall then push in juice as it is withdrawn. Then repeat elsewhere around the wall. I would not poke one right in the stuffing since there are wires and wick in there.

I just drip into the stuffing, 18+ drops per ml while I hold a tissue against the threaded end hole, then clean it up well, and lay it on different sides to settle and spread the juice to every bit of stuffing (for 15-20 min w/ my thin juices).

I would suggest trying a ce2 xl the metal one not the clearo. no filler to take up space the juice could be using. I only have to fill about 2xs a day on a heavy day. as far as the lifespan most of them last a few months before dying some only a few weeks

there is the issue with the bottom plug needing to use a needle to fill or go through the pain of taking it out and realigning it just right to get it in but I use a blade to bring it flush all the way around with the top of the notch so I never bother aligning it and it won't leak.

jill - oh - you are not using cartos? Ignore what we said about cartos!

Yes - Cartridges aka carts (they push onto an atty) - they suck. That is why most people switch to using cartomizers or dripping (on many batteries only - not recommend for auto batteries. And I actually think refilled cartos are more likely to drip where it could damage or kill an auto battery).

What model is your ecig? If it is a popular model number then there are probably cartomizers available for it. if it is anything 510-threaded try Boge cartomizers. SLim 510 needs the standard resistance. Fat battery models and mods 450mah or greater can use standard or the hotter LR.

I'm using the GatorVapor eGo 650 mAh - with atty and carts. I picked up new, thinner juice from another local vendor yesterday, then kind of "picked" at the stuffing with a toothpick carefully, and the vaping was dramatically increased, and I am much happier - I think i wasn't quite filling them enough for as often as i'm vaping - last night I ordered a cartos online from FS, so anxious to try that . . . thanks for all the great tips and info!

Before I switched to cartomizers a couple of months ago, I used the atty cartridge combo too. If I remember correctly, a new cartridge would hold about 12 drops of juice. You want to fill it up enough were it just looks slushy at the top, not pooled up.

On subsequent refills the cartridges would only absorb about 6-7 drops. Use the same criteria when refilling, just so it looks slushy but not a pool of liquid.

The cartridges are reusable definitely. You can take the filling out and rinse it and let it dry if you want to change flavors. If the filling starts to get a little burnt looking it is time to change it.

As far as how long between refills.....I think a good rule of thumb is 2-3 puffs per drop of liquid. Just don't wait till you can taste the filler burning.

Cartomizers are much less trouble for me. They hold about 20-30 drops. I refill 4 of them each day and that lasts me about 24 hours of heavy vaping. Well, I mean, every 24 hours or so I refill them. And charge the batteries at the same time.
