I think it would be interesting to have a simple listing of how long the various ecigs have been lasting members without replacement parts. Suggested format:

1) Brand and style, ie njoy, penstyle
2) Heavy, Medium, Light Smoker
3) xdays, xweeks or xmonths
4) Using eliquids or not - refilling and/or dripping
5) Still working or not

Njoy Penstyle
Heavy Smoker
1 day short of 3 wks
Use eliquid only for refilling used cartridges
Still working well

I needed several replacement on this ecig so rest of story bumped to:
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...w-long-your-ecig-has-lasted-replacements.html

Forgot to add this ecig

1) Health Mini 5/18/08
2) Heavy Smoker
3) N/A - totally unacceptable for a heavy smoker
4) Tried refilling and dripping
5) Guess it is still working but put aside in perpetuity.

well..hard one this..

first try.. DSE902 early mini type.. brand unknown.. three test (heavy) smokers..

two out of six batteries dead on arrival..

first failed atomizer after about three days.. over six week ten atomizers and six worn out batteries.. the cigs themselves work well the parts dont last long..

second try.. some e-cig china minis.. no failed parts but we gave up using them because of lack of smoke.. the second part time type user still has them and all parts are still working.. i have a sneaky feeling here smoke power and long life dont go together..

third try.. some e-cig cigarillos.. two battery chargers failed the first day.. i think a faulty battery killed them but i am not sure.. three out of four atomizers have failed over the first few days usage.. the last one is still going strong.. i hope they do last longer cos i like them.. if they last three weeks on average i would be happy..

just to add my relacement $23 multi charger from dealextreme died after five seconds usage.. he he..

fourth try some e pipes from e-cig china.. no failed parts and they are all still going but we have only had them three days..

i have some spare cigarillo atomizers coming for a second try.. he he he

Hey Trog, I am wondering about those failed chargers. Could be a bad battery. Then again if you used the same outlet each time it could be a bad outlet. If it is not properly grounded -fzzzzt!

he he he.. i am still wondering about the two failed chargers.. and the next one..

its not a bad outlet.. no possibility.. i have converted one of the screw in type chargers with fly leads and it works perfectly with all the batteries.. so do the screw in type in type chagers with proper batteries.. i have also used the pipe chargers with croc leads to charge all the cigarillo batteries.. no problems.. so i think its bad luck .. it happens.. he he

i have a replacment multi charger coming plus two different make (cheaper) type multi chargers coming..

and yep i have invested time and money trying to make the best of these things.. i view them as long term and see it as ultimately worth while..

my view so far is they should be viewed as disposable items and if cheap enough thats okay.. but i could see it as being very expensive buying the wrong stuff..

we are heavy weight users.. not casual.. i feel these things are really targeted at casual users not heavy smokers trying to replace their normal daily cigs completely with them..

and of course you believe what the many have told u without reservation.. he he he.. odd really being as the things have only been available for about a week..

i could also have invested over a thousand dollars in three ruyan pipes.. i aint daft or rich enough thow.. "affordable" is one of the major long term requirements..

NerdyCinderella, I really like this topic you have created. What about moving number 4 to 5 and make number 4) Used alternate E-liquids yes or no

I'm using 2 new penstyles right now, one with just the intended refill cartridges and one with both intended carts and liquid from e-cig.com(topping off and dripping) to see what happens. Would be nice to know if people are having more troubles if they are dripping/topping off carts or is just a mere coincidence. I'm trying to find out, and knowing from others would be a great help.

Either way, great topic

Trog, xxsannxx is right about E-Cig. And you know it from reading their forum full of customer complaints (I was one such complaint, until they banned me and removed my complaint and related support from others).

Crappy company doesn't even begin to describe them ... from products to the complete lack of customer service.

we are missing a biggy here.. how much "smoke" the device produces when new..

i have a sneaky suspicion a device that dosnt produce much smoke will last longer producing not much smoke than a device that produces tons of it when new..

a compromise is being arrived at by the makers.. a device that dosnt draw much current will produce less smoke and the batteries will last longer so will the heater coil in the atomizer....

one that draws more current will produce more smoke.. the downside being the batteries wont last as long neither will the atomizer or the liquid in the cart..

horses for course perhaps.. a placebo smoker will say it works and is still working after xxxx weeks.. a real heavy smoker will say its dosnt work right from the word go.. not enough smoke..

its pretty clear potential e smokers cover a wide spectrum from the two cigs a day placebo smoker to the chain smoking addict.. and people who just want to use them occasionally on airplanes and such..

the other factor is does it work as intended.. take it out of the box pop in a freshly charged battery and a cart and off it puffs.. and if it puffs how much does it puff and for how long.. he he

to me its not as simple as long the parts last.. its how well they work while they are lasting and at what point should they be considered.. errrr.. knackered.. he he
