How many are using a 510/eGo adapter as a safeguard?

I've had a few people suggest that I pick up an 510/eGo adapter for my new V3 as a way to protect against thread damage and I was curious as to how many use one.

I am not a chronic tank swapper, switching back and forth between flavors. I'll typically fill 'er up, vape till empty, rinse, repeat. I've always had kid gloves on when threading delicate devices, so I am not too worried about cross threading anything. How likely am I going to see those threads go t's up? And to anyone who has had issues, is it with the 510 or eGo threads (or both). I don't use many 510 devices on at the moment, so if it was just the 510 threads I have to worry about, its not really an issue.

As far as a way to avoid thread damage from a drop.... not sure how an adapter would save me much... if whatever I have is seated on the adapter nice and snug, it would damage the V3 threads the same as if I screwed it directly in the device, but it would be the adapter doing the damage, not the device.

Thoughts?

I've read about the cross threads problem too. Always wondered how they managed to damage the threads if you turn the atty in carefully. Before it cross threads, you would feel a bit of resistance. But just in case, I do use an adapter. lol.

Serves 2 purposes for me.
1) Minimise chances of cross threads. But you still have to remove it periodically to clean it and the contacts.
2) If there is condensation, or slight leaking, the adapter can contain some of the condensation/juice.

I've been reading and there seems to be a lot of chatter about people having problems with the center pin getting buried and having to replace the gasket when using an adapter... anyone have that?

I started to notice a bit of damage to the centre pin gasket on the Vamo. That's where the beauty ring comes in to play. The problem with overtightening is that there's often a gap between the tank and the Vamo, this leads to it feeling loose on the top. It's tempting to overtighten the tank to get rid of the slight play. With a beauty ring on the ego threads, you can crank up your tank and save your centre pin!

I've been using a 510/eGo adapter on my v2, but mostly for EVODs to avoid the pita of the base separating from the body. With the removable top ring of the v3, that wouldn't be as big an issue.

Been using my vamo for about 3 months now, no center pin issues at all. But there's plenty of info on this forum about replacing that gasket. Looks pretty easy, if worse comes to worse.

I use the Protank beauty ring method. Doesn't save the threads per se, but gives a rock solid fit for your atty - no more wobbling around so if it does take a knock, it won't move. Also helps avoid centre pin damage. Looks a lot better than a 510 adapter too!

Do you use this ring to screw down first, and then screw the Protank down?

Because I can not use the Beauty Ring that came with the Protank at the same time... unless I use the 510 adapter.

I bought both a 510-ego adapter (for my Kanger T3) and a 510-510 adapter (to see if it protects the threading). The ego adapter is fine on the Kanger, but makes the whole thing stick way out with other devices and seems like I'm just increasing the leverage on the whole thing. the 510 adapter is too short to even make contact with the vamo, so it's worthless. I just ordered a different one to see if it works.

What's this beauty ring?

Looks like the ones in these 2 links.

Don't know about other devices, but the Protank will not screw down all the way on the Vamo when the beauty ring (that comes with the Protank) is attached to the Vamo. You'll have to use the 510 adapter.
So, I use the first one. It screws down nicely on the Vamo, and then you can screw a Protank down. It also helps to eliminate 'airy' draws - in case you're getting to much air. And it helps add girth to the threading base. It doesn't look so vulnerable.
