How Many Attys...

...do you go through in a month? When I had my old smoke shop cheapo special, I killed the atty in about a week. Now my sparkplug atty is gone as well, but I think there was something wrong with it to begin with. It acted like it wasn't getting a good connection or something. Sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn't.

The company is sending a new atty along with a package of cartos for the trouble.

It varies depending on how much you vape and what kind of liquid you use. The darker, sweeter ones tend to shorten an atties life as well as how often you use it. Best to have at least one spare on hand at all times just in case.

Hmmm, trying to remember. I haven't used attys in a good while, but it seems like that with 4 in rotation, they would last me 6 to 8 weeks with a good 91% IPA cleaning every 2 weeks.

Thanks for the replies. I'm thinking I may try my luck with the cartos when they get here. I've heard you can refill them yourself...time to do some more learnin'!

1 per month. I retire the still working atty to the "emergency bin" and start with a fresh one each month. And this is at 5 volts. No swapping or rotating atties.

I'm about a month in myself, and haven't lost one. I have been rotating and cleaning the atty at the first sign of any burnt taste though.

I've gone through 5 ego cone attys and 5 cartos and 3 clearomisers in the last 7 weeks and only used 70ml of juice. I guess I'm being heavy handed with them though!

Thanks everyone. I just don't know if it's just me at this point doing something wrong or the bad atty I got. Hopefully the new one will make a difference. At this point I've spent more time on analogs since I've started this maddening quest that I have PVs. I hope to start an emergency bin like Pops pretty soon though.

At this point I'm about ready to just give up on these contraptions though...

I started out with a 510S starter kit (with tapered atomizer) and it turned out to be a bad purchase, both batteries failed within a week, wouldnt hold a charge with multiple chargers and then the atomizers failed shortly after.

Deciding to try something cheaper and more disposable than a $60 kit, I bought a bunch of Bauway 510 atomizers and have had 3 in rotation with no failures in over 3 months. I'm curious to see how long they will last with regular cleaning, but I am about to buy new hardware and I am pondering trying some 301 LR atomizers to see if they give me the vapor production and flavor I am looking for.

I recommended a PV to my neighbor and family friend, and within a week of light use it popped...go figure!

You never know with them. I just always kept a more than sufficient supply around. I know that is different for everybody, but with me, it was at least a couple dozen. As you can tell, I have a paranoid personality.

There is a fine line between paranoid and prepared, and I like to stomp all over both sides of it. I usually order in sets of 5 or so, and have tried a few different types so I feel you there, I must have at least 15 or so by now. Its good to have backups, as well as fresh atomizers for taste testing!

You can't have too many attys /cartos or PV's, or too much juice.

I have been marveling for awhile yet that I have yet to lose a single one but only really been at this heavily for a few months and I have like 4 or so in rotation at the moment. But just last night my LR 901 just wouldn't work. Haven't used it much compared to my various 510s so am surprised if in fact toast. The standard 510 that came with my original eGo kit last year is still going strong...

"If it ain't broke, fix it 'till it is!" How appropriate. Attys were lasting me for months. Then I had one that wasn't producing as much vapor as usual. I read a bunch of posts - some very detailed - about how to clean your attys. As soon as I did some of those brilliant procedures my attys started popping one after the other. I now know I just had a flooded atty from dripping too much juice into it. All I had to do was blow some of the juice out of it and store it in a shot glass with the brass side down overnight and it would have been fine. Since I started doing that instead of SOAKING and DRY BURNING, they last for months. I ain't hatein'. If someone feels that they absolutely have to clean theirs, go right ahead. I'm sure it works fine for you. Just didn't work for me. The best maintenance for me is very little maintenance.

So the shot glass is empty, right? Aside from the atty, of course...but no Vodka or PGA or anything?

The PGA would be used if the atty gets really dirty or something. I just toss mine in an ultrasonic cleaner with the alcohol and all is well I was using the ego-t but I haven't had to really clean the simple 306 ones that I use now.

My wife and I have lots of attys in rotation. But I think at lease one a week gets sent to the (working but not great box) or the trash if it stops. Extrapolate to 2 weeks per atty if it was full time. I buy them 10 at a time. Boge LR Smoktec DC

I usually buy 10 attys at a time, if they all work great I won't have to get anymore for 6 months. These things are not made to last forever, there a micro heater with a really small wire.

Yea, I didn't figure they were supposed to last forever...but I have yet to have one last a full week.
