"Hmm...so a girl wanted to know if black people vaped. Maybe she was curious? maybe she wanted to know if there more people of her own race that shared this connection."

"Either way, anyone should be able to ask a question without being attacked or assumed a hater just because she mentioned race. this was in No way a derogatory statement, nor offensive. Why the big deal?"

Yes this is the reason I started this thread. I don't really look at myself as a black person, just a person. I was just curious. It just seems to be predominately white.

www.myspace.com/knomad

Cool man just ckd out your site, you have good flow and lyrics. You need my Nueman mics and me to remaster it hehe. I just produced a new cd for Diego and Supreme Team out of Anderson if you want I can send you cpl tracks to check out the vocal quality if your interested. Its not the final version just generic tracks to get the flow down before I produce the final tracks.

Martha,

Your question which started this post is not what is offensive... Many of the remarks made afterwards ARE!
& I would think whites and blacks would be offended by many of the remarks- This forum may represent 1% of vapers in the World-
Girl, introduce the change to people you know and don't worry so much about the acceptance you may or may not receive... (not sure why the worry or concern about vaping being a race thing)
I have to point this out too... other than the few people who put their own pictures in their Bio or avatar... just reading posts on the forum gives no indication at all as to what race someone is... In other words, how was the presumption made that vaping is a "white thing"...?
Unless a post like this arises, (calling out race to be recognized) no one knows what race someone is by their statements...
I'm just sayin'

Not in the UK they ask your preferences for everything.

All in the name of research and statistics I am lead to believe

What is Transengender ?? .
I figured as I dont know what it is, I am not one, but maybe I am wrong

sorry i assumed you were america - they cant ask any of that

transgender means you had a sex change or you believe you are the opposite sex inhabiting the worng type of body

to each his/her own i suppose

i like being a man

Since so much about Obama and his race was in the forum I just wanted to know how many blacks were actually vapers. I pesonally only know of one black person who vapes. Sometimes you can tell by what a person writes whether they are black or white or at least I can. By asking this question I did find out there were other races that were members of this forum.

I in no way felt anybody said anything prejuiced against black or white. Most people seemed to be interested as I was. There has been and always will be a race issue in the USA although it really doesn't matter anymore. I know all the stigmas attached to black people especially in the south where I live. But this does not concern me because as I said I was only interested.

Forgive me for even bringing this to anyone's attention especially if this offends you in any way.

i dont see a prob with the question ... although to me i dont care if your black, white, purple, yellow people are people.... only diff in people is you have decent folk and idiots. we just need to get the word out more about e-cigs to every race so they can make their choice if they wanna vape or not. alota people have never heard of this yet. alot of lower income families arnt blessed (or cursed) with the internet, and this is (from what i have seen) how it is being marketed for the most part. i myself just started seeing the online ads a month or so ago and thought, meh its a gimmick. then my dad sent me a link to a news clip they did on e-cigs and i started to more searching. if it wasnt for that i woulda never knew about it ... so in my opinion, who cares what race... just get the word out. as for the music portion of this thread lol ... i hate the "new" rap anymore rap =crap it isnt poetry anymore its crap just to make a buck, and to be famous. bring back the old school rap ice cube eazy e redman method man etc .... but i mostly listen to heavy metal myself.

Martha, you didn't offend me with the question but some of the smartazz comments from others were insulting to say the least... I can understand wanting to know if anyone else that shares your background is on the forum... I believe some people could have been more couthe in their responses... Oh! & I am not sure if that should be considered a "white" statement or an "educated" statement-
I understand a few people wanting to know why you were asking that type of question... others had nothing helpful to contribute though- they could have left their comments out of the thread... IMO

a la Eric Cartman... "me, me, me, me, me!!"

or working on it at least. just ordered my first 2 kits from ruyan and can't wait til they arrive.

i personally think the op's question is pointless and irrelevant. while i might identify with someone as being a black person who vapes, the color of our skin (though probably not even that) may very well be the only shared characteristic between us.

how many black people watch the tudors?
how many black people listen to tool?
how many black people are vegan?
and the list could go on... what difference does it make?

the difference is irrellivant, she just wnated to know

i dont know any black people that vape. I've only met few white who do

i dont know any hispanics that vape either

the only people being prejudice are the people who treat the op's question as prejudice, who cares if she wants to know if black people vape? i want to know too... is that prejudice? no! it's curiousity.

and the black people i've showed my e-cig too (including my band members) tell me im on some crazy white boy ****

is that prejudice?

**** it

who cares

i want to meet a black vaper

and btw - i bet no one in the UK would find this offensive, only americans who were raised to understand the difference in the skins melonin content.

I really don't know how to tell you this, but um, I think this has more to do with being poor and "urban" than "people like you"...and even in THAT case, no. No.

Substitute for weed? I grew up in East Oakland...when has this ever been a rare commodity in the 'hood, lol? I'm just...sayin'...

Um...no offense but people are individuals. Perhaps you should not use phrases like "a strike against us" in a racial context; again, I think you are doing a disservice to all of the CACWTRN(poor non-minority people of minimal sophistication) out there that have the same problem: poverty.

You are gonna HATE this but you know it is "true"...you think marketing e-Cigs as an "intelligent alternative that smart people use" would be a better sell for an Urban Contemporary Youth Audience? ;)

Besides "Bling" is so played now, I mean "bling" is one the Today Show. It is NOT what is hot in the streets now :p

-K

1) I stated people like me because I am African American which the entire thread is about. (didn't take rocket science to see that)

2)It was a personal substitute, and I explained why, trust shortage was not the reason (reading is fundamental)

3)"Strike against us" meant a strike against the Vaping community. (use your context clues)

4) actually marketing it for what it is will defiantly sell more units because you would be broadening your target audience. If you read the post where the lady was saying she lives in NJ and she's going to go to Harlem to market "Bling Bling" e-cigs you'd see the offensive nature behind it. People have enough sense to ask about what it does and make a decision for themselves, and those who just "go with the crowd" will follow suit. Please tell me the last time you saw a successful ad campaign geared toward only African American Youth. Color lines don't exist in young people anymore, google "Black Boy White Boy Swag".

K - you're cool and all, but in the future if you're going to deconstruct my text make sure you understand it first. Asking some questions wouldn't hurt. The post had nothing to do with the poverty line, its been about race. As I stated I read every post before mine, and my post was my thoughts on the thread as a whole singling out some ideas that I felt needed to be addressed.

I'm the lady in question who said they would market Bling cigarettes in Harlem and followed it up by saying it was a joke in the same post.

If you're going to selectively quote me, please refer to the whole post. Or at least the paragraph that you've twisted.

So, although I'm Black, I may not be the demographic you're looking for, although I do have a Harlem campaign mapped out for the "Bling" e-cig I saw some wholesalers advertise. (Just a joke, I don't have enough cash to become a supplier! But as a chick who loves rhinestones - the "Bling" evokes an atavistic response - PRETTY! ME WANT!)

I grew up in Harlem. It's where my Aunt, Cousins and girlfriends still live. If I were to ever sell anything brick and mortar - it's the first place I'd go to get feedback.

I retract my statement, I know how to admit when I'm wrong. ;)

I have to admit I don't quite get some of upset that in this thread just from somebody asking after if there's Black people here.

I just took it as a demographics sort of question, and then I wondered to myself if there are any/how many other differences, how about disabled, our ages, how many Chinese, Japanese, Jewish etc are represented here, then wondered how the male/female ratio is, etc, but I'm not curious about any of these enough to actually ask and risk any upsets (especially since I am only three of those and I figure from this thread that maybe its best not to ask about something unless it applies to oneself, we can't be curious about people different from ourselves?)

anyway,
if I asked if there's any forum members who are 5'0" (aka 1.524m for the metric types) or shorter, would that bring about a similar upset, maybe a Randy Neuman 'Short People Got No Reason' song Revival, or possibly tense discussions about 'The Little People of America' and associated certain non-PC height -slurs and maybe some intensive querying as to why I even asked (which then I'd have to justify and cool down the topic by stating my own height)? :p

Don't worry, I'm not going to actually ask that one either (although if I was going to ask a demographic question that's probably the one I'd be most interested in).

about a Black guy and e-cigs (sorta on topic):
He's probably not a forum member (since he was featured in a little part in one of the commercially made or newscast story videos about e-cigarettes) but there was a Black guy who was being introduced to E-cigarettes as a 'man on the street' during one of those videos who did the very best (and one of the very few in fact) 'dragon nostril' exhales of an e-cig I have ever seen. He just smoked it just like a cigarette and had all that vapor rolling out his nose just like a cigarette (the way I also aim to do and try for with my e-cig, getting my nose in the act is the most satisfying way to vape to me).

Does anybody know what the proper name for what I am calling 'dragon nostrils' actually is? Its just normal puffing/inhaling with your mouth and then exhaling the smoke/vapor through your nose (like the way I and anybody I've ever known smoked cigarettes did, but with an E cig). I call it a 'dragon exhale' because its like when a dragon lets a bunch of smoke out of its nostrils.

It seems like just about everybody in every other video seems to be vaping E-cigarettes like they're smoking pipes or cigars or something (not really inhaling and not letting it out through their noses, just exhaling back through their mouths only), but not this guy in this one video, and not me.

That was the best 'dragon exhale' I ever saw and every time I come across that video it just looks so satisfying watching him I have to take a puff of mine too right with him.

If I see it again I'll try to come back and put that video in here.
He was just a small part of that video, but it was good, it was like 'yeah now that's the way you do it"

update:
Oh well.
Thought I could find that video easily enough because I kept running into it before but now that I am looking for it can't find it. He was a guy in a green or greenish blue shirt standing outside trying an e-cig for the first time. If I ever find it again (and then can find this post again) I'll come back and try to put it in here

How the hell did I miss this thread? ..and 20 pages in no less

Well, I guess add this black male to the poll numbers. Smoked menthol for 20 years or so. 1 month in on a 510 and never looked back. What else??? Umm...who the hell DOESN'T like fried chicken/wings? Unfortunately, I haven't been able to spread the word to many of my bro's because my social group is primarily people of European descent.
