I was asked this question yesterday by a friend who remarked "Every time I visit you, you're playing around with your (ecig) stuff. How many hours a day do you *spend messing around with it?" (*I think he actually used the verb "waste", but I'll let his non-vaper's judgment slide for the sake of friendship)

I hadn't given it any thought till he said something, but it's true. Every time this friend drops by, he seems to catch me in the process of washing, building, wicking, or tinkering with something ecig related. After thinking about it, I'll estimate that I spend an average of 30 to 45 minutes a day tinkering. On a day like Sunday when I have a lot of free time, it's probably more like an hour and a half.

It's not that I have to devote that much time, I just enjoy the tinkering aspect (refilling my Kayfuns with needle-nosed bottles excepted. That part of it is pure tedium for me). But admittedly, that does seem like a lot of time. When it all adds up, it's like a full day out of every month that I spend just tinkering.

So, how much time do you spend washing, building, wicking, filling, swapping batteries, and generally tinkering with your stuff? This is NOT including actual vaping time, only tinkering.

7 minutes. I don't tinker unless I absolutely have to. So basically the refilling is the only consistent thing I do per day. On the days I have to clean and rewick...make it another 5 - 10 minutes added on.

The day I have to build a coil, add another 20 minutes to half an hour. I really don't like building ROFL

I always fill up my 2 Kayfuns and charge my batteries at night...Usually the last Sunday of the month I will find a good series to binge watch on Netflix and rebuild my Protank coils for the month. So right now to get ready for the day is no more time then it was to stop at the store and pick up my cigarettes.

I don't rebuild every day. And I have multiple RDAs ready to go. I got a new Doge-Xv2 on Friday, but I needed to catch a train to meet up with some buddies for a pub crawl, so I just took about 10 minutes to quickly wrap two 6-wrap 24g coils in my new Doge and wick it, put two fresh batteries in my mod and grab two juice flavors for my pocket. And I was out the door. But I have been using the same Doge-X since Friday with the same coils and the same wick and it is still fantastic.

Sometimes, though, I build mods. That takes significantly longer.... but its just a fun way that I like to spend my time sometimes.

And I also do youtube videos. That takes awhile too, especially trying to edit the videos to fit all the stuff I want in a reasonable clip length.

I spend a good amount of time reading the forums here, too.

Come to think of it, I spend almost the entire day vaping, thinking about vaping, building mods, building new atomizers, or taking pictures/videos of vape gear.

Not as much time as I used to, when I was experimenting and learning to rebuild. Nowadays, I know what I like, so I only rebuild coils when I have to. Re wicking and refilling only takes a couple minutes.
There are days when I make juice, which takes a little time. Otherwise, just a few minutes a day, changing batteries, refilling, or re wicking when necessary.

OP, there is a difference between people who just casually visit these forums with a basic question and members who are always reading, building, trying new flavors, posting pictures, collecting gear, etc. We are the hobbyists here. It is a fun pastime. I certainly enjoy it and don't think of it as time wasted anymore than any other hobby.

How long does it take to refill a kayfun? That's about all I do most days.

Once every two weeks I spend maybe 10 or 15 minutes making up a batch of my ADV. I vape only menthol so wicks last a very long time. At most, once a month I need to rewick one of my attys. Now that I have coils built that I like, I don't touch them.

When this was new, I kinda liked tinkering with vape stuff. Now, not so much. The less fuss, the better.

Oh, almost forgot, I have to put my stealth ego on the charger once a week, and add a few drops to its' carto nearly every day. I takes no time to plug a USB cable in the bottom of the MVP or iStick. So maybe a total of 5 minutes a day.

Now, if you were to ask how long I spend reading ECF, that would be a quite different answer.

I spend quite a bit on the kayfun 3.1 and lite days which includes 10 mins extra (on top of what you guys mentioned) of thinking what more can I do with it (drilling the air hole, chamber coil, let's make it pretty). However, it ain't wasting time though. It's just a hobby likened to bonsai plant trimming or even those guys who put ships in the bottle.

Thus 10 to 20 mins a normal day and maybe 30-45 on weekends to "device" the ultimate vape. That was back then, now it is hours on the RDA and self made mods.

I believe I'm constantly fiddling...if I'm not I'm thinking about what to fiddle with next..and if I'm not thinking of what to fiddle with next then I'm on the forums trying to find something that will give me an idea of how I can fiddle. If I can't find anything to fiddle with up here then I fiddle on over to CASAA and fiddle there.
