The A7's center post can be adjusted down a little to make contact with the ohm meter. I always have to move them down a little. Just be sure to move it back up before putting on your REO.

Would it be prudent to invest in a multimeter even though I have a Vamo?

A multimeter is a must for checking ohms, battery voltage, and other random stuff.

I would recommend the one in the pic over a MM. Not only can you check your build much easier, it is also a nice stable platform to build off.
I was thinking exactly the same.

I just use my Vamo. It works just fine to meter mine. DH has all sorts of funky meters around, but why bother with another "thing" when my ProVari and Vamo are sitting right here?
And I meter every coil. I have never had a spring go (yet) on any of my mechanicals (knocking on wood here!!!) but have caught a short with the Vamo.
Love my ohm meter, its good for a quick check. It's a really good idea if you're not using a VV Reo, as it ensures you don't have a spring collapsing short on your rebuildable.
I was able to reorganize my little domain inside my wife's house* and consolidated all my vaping supplies. I literally have a tin full of atomizers that are begging to be metered and separated into LR, SR and HV groups, and probably a few dead ones that need to be disposed of.

I do the same. Unless I am making something lower than 1.2 ohms, I even do the dry burn on the Vamo. I haven't popped a spring yet doing this method.
I always meter a new coil before firing it up. It's not so much to check ohms, I know my wraps, but it's to catch anything wonky such as a slightly loose leg connection. My reomizer has a fussy post, and if I don't seat the wire in the hole just right, I lose the connection.

I almost never use a meter. Occasionally when I think something might be questionable I'll throw it on my sigelei or bust out the actual multimeter. Its good to have around especially when you're new to RBAs but I wouldn't say its required.
I also have a VV grand so I don't need to worry about hot springs collapsing.

Same here. All the coils I wrap come out at 2.0 - 2.2 ohms. And when I say all, I mean ALL.
