OK, given the lack of detail, I'll give you an idea of what I use and drop numbers.
I use 510 cartridges (carts) and atomisers (attys) or I use 510 Cartomisers (cartos) which is a combination of the cart + atty in one.
I get 10-15 drops into a cart and 15-20 drops into a carto.
If I'm using carts I prefill 5 for the day and that does me pretty well all day. With cartos I only use 3 in an average day. With both I am vaping constantly throughout the day.

I have been putting 5 drops on the back of a plate (18mg) and roliing the wooley part of the filter onto it...I am puffing quite frequently 20 puffs an hour? Thing is I still fell like a real ciggy...
Hack, sounds like whatever you're doing is working. Please let us know what model you are using and if it's standard carts with the polyester filling. It's tough to avoid ciggy's for the first little while, but it definitely helps if your equipment is working properly.
I had times where I could vape all day non-stop and I would still think I needed an Analog. I did actually have one and it tasted so vile that I realized it was just the old brain addiction trying to trick me. Never had once since and that feeling has been fading steadily.
3-5 drops in dry cart stuffing won't go far because there is nothing to keep it from just spreading elsewhere in the stuffing. A cart wicks best for me when around 1/2 full and and topped off on top. That way the juice below feeds up through the stuffing and keep the top damp helps them do that. After a few days I threw out the white cart stuffing and cut blue foam instead which is a more consistent density and wicks well for me. On a full fill I pull out the foam stuffing, fill the cart 1/2 way, put the foam back in and push it into the juice to wet it, reposition the top edge of the foam at the top edge of the cart, and top off with 1-3 drops (depending on the size of the cart and what it needs to look damp on top). After doing that, then I can can just top off as needed until topping off isn't helping and that usually means the foam stuffing is totally dry.

"20 puffs an hour" is not really very frequent at all. E-cigs don't deliver nicotine as efficiently as analogs, so if you're still getting cigarette cravings you can try vaping more frequently and/or try upping your nicotine strength. You don't say what strength juice you're using so I can't really recommend what to increase to.
Also note that real cigarettes have a lot more stuff in them than just nicotine, and e-cigs don't replace that. Many folks have found they need a supplement with their PV, such as Snus. That will provide you with some of the stuff from tobacco that you're missing in an e-cig without the associated smoke and carcinogens from burning tobacco and paper. If bumping your nicotine intake isn't enough, try that and see if the cigarette cravings lessen or go away entirely.
1 drop (direct dripping) gives about 4 long drags.
Most cart fillers will soak up and trap some drops towards the end of a session, the taste changes, then you have to top up the cart. (I use kitchen foil to replace the filler myself, it's sort of a slow dripper, not good for travelling but it does giveup most of the e-liquid).
