How much cotton do you use in your RDA?

I just got my first rda (igo-L) about 2 weeks ago and have been playing around with it. I see that some are covering the deck of their atomizers with cotton, while others are just using a piece long enough to reach the deck to suck up excess liquid. Which is your preferred amount of cotton?

A light wispy piece, just enough to fill the coil, but not so much that it tugs on it when you pull it through.
Trimmed short enough to reach the deck with an extra couple millimeters to lay on the deck.

savageman, that's pretty similar to what I've been doing. I just saw on quite a few posts that some were filling the deck. I was just curious as to what others thought was best, as I'm pretty new to rebuildables and cotton wick. Thanks!

Cool. I have found it wicks faster with less wick.
With a short wick like I pictured above, I can fire it continously and watch the ends get sucked dry.
With a longer wick, the middle drys first and the ends stay wet.
Just my unscientific test.

Too much cotton through the coil tends to choke it, preventing adequate transfer of juice.....
As a general rule.....LESS is better!!

With cotton, less is more. When you think you've got it down just below the right thickness, use half of that.

I knew about what thickness I should be using. I was just wondering how long of a wick everyone was using.

I make my coils with a 18ga needle so I have to put the cotton under it...

After my first rba build, I followed the advice of the fine folks here at ECF, and found that they were right. Less is better.

I'm glad I found this! I was stuffing mine after a few pics I saw. Tasting the cotton, wondering why. It all makes sense now

I pack mine super heavy sometimes so 8 don't have to drip as much and I don't taste cotton...


Here's my current 0.45 dial in an igo I it's about 75%as much as I normally run as far as cotton goes
