I started just a few days ago, I figure I should break even in appx 1.5 month....
My initial expense for batt's, attys, carts etc... was $120, the last few days I bought juice for appx $200 which should last appx. 4 month.

I will spend my extra dough on some nice vacation's and some surprises for my girlfriend since she supported me 110% thru my journey of becomming a vape-head :p

Let's hear what you're up to....

I'm not for sure but it's probably well over $2,000. I've been vaping for probably a year and a half and I used to smoke 2 packs a day.

I have saved my health as well. At first, I went through a lot of juice finding my all day vape, and carts, cartos, atties, etc.. and actually spent more, but after smoking a pack a day since I was 16, (I'm 32 now) and going through gum, patches, hypnosis, drugs (prescription only), and a million loved ones shouting at me, It's not so bad. And I can taste stuff now.

for the first 6 weeks i kept careful track of all my expenses --having read an awful lot of $ saved banners i thought it was a bit of hype. I don't think i have broken even. But i am breathing easier, feel better about my life, my kid and my energy level is up.

I gave up calculating the amt. of $ because it just added stress. unless you are lucky, not very picky, not prone to addiction (ha) and not subject to the problem of "needing" artificial desires (a.k.a toys and gizmos and a better experience) you won't save a lot of money. A lucky few come in here, buy a good solid standard kit from a reputable vendor and put the whole thing out of their mind (and probably stop reading and posting to these forums) but even those lucky few will find that these complex devices break, fail and decay in performance and when they go out to look for a replacement wonderful gizmos and promises fill the ether. some of it's smoke and mirrors (vapor and fears) but actually some of these tech improvements are very satisfying. About a year ago i posted some fantasy specifications for the perfect vape and low and behold these are now close to the industry standard.

It's interesting because i don't know of many analog smokers who fuss and primp about their brand and accouterments but when it comes to vaping its more like one of those wine tasting clubs and despite the fact is there is no such thing as the perfect bottle of wine there are better wines and worse and the subjective element of the palate the social snobbery and the keeping up with the jonses not to mention the jonesing for the perfect way to administer a drug which creates intense craving

or maybe i imagine its something like europe in the middle ages when they were first perfecting beer--some of it tasted like swill but after a hundred years (probably 5-10 for this industry) they finally got it right. that didn't keep people from making crappy beer to make money

anyway don't read to many posts id you want to save money. it will just make you crave ever more perfect gizmos. Buy something solid ($60-75) and run away--or hang out here enjoy watching a community of tech freaks and taste connoisseurs create a great new recreational drug spend your money as you please and stay away from filthy, posionous tobacco products sold by an evil empire to enslave and kill you for money...

just a thought....

I did the whole keep track thing too, but that quickly faded after about 6 weeks...The money I saved on smoking I invested in vaping. LOL.... but I will say I have built up a nice stock of flavors, batteries, atty's, and cartos, and if I am snowed in I don't have to worry for running to the store for smokes or running out. So I have also invested in peace of mind. :)

about 5-6 dollars a day. I quit November 8th, and every day until about Dec 10th I put 5 dollars in a box (to show me how much I was spending on cigs). I would have kept going but Christmas came up, and I had to use it to buy people presents, which felt good actually. It's amazing that after you quit analogues, you think "how did I afford that for so many years?"

I haven't saved a dime so far, but after thinking about this question for awhile, I started thinking about how much money I spent in the past on failed attempts to quit smoking; acupuncture, hypnosis, patches, gum, inhalers, chantix, zyban (and doctor's visits to get those prescriptions) What I have spent on e-cigs, accessories, juice, etc is only a small fraction of what that crap cost, and this works- so when you look at it like that, e-cigs are one hell of a bargain.

I think my banner is relatively accurate. I only buy new toys about every two months (cheap stuff like cartomizers or a spare atty) and mostly make my own e-liquids ..... It's been 11 months and I think I've probably saved about $500 or so. I wish I'd been putting it in a jar or something, but really I just pay down my credit cards better.

I haven't taken stock, but can tell you this. I used to spend roughly 38. per week for myself and 38. for my husband (rolled my own and used cheapest pipe tobacco available!)
I have not spent my 38. since november 26. 2010. Since I don't smoke so much, hubby's cut down considerably (got him a riva, which he doesn't use nearly as often as I'd like him to!) So his 38. per week has stretched to 18. every two weeks.
I spend roughly 30. per month on liquid/cartos. Now that I am officially smoke free I expect that amount to go up slightly. Because we're unemployed at the moment we're extremely cautious about spending so I could be just being a superbargainhuntress , not sure.
Either way, 18. every two weeks is much better than about 80 per week, and 30. per month is tons better than 38. per week! It's actually what's gotten us thru dealing with measly amount uncle sam says we're allowed to have as unemployed people.

and I am also saving money on meds for blood pressure which has gone down(cheaper meds hopefully someday none!), doctor bills (have been remarkably healthier lately!) and I feel wonderful! I've been chasing grandbabies across the cornfield at top speed and walking circles around hubby when we're out and abooot!(he used to walk faster than me cause I don't like being out of breath!)
My clothes and hair smell ever so much better, but when hubby comes in from having had a smoke , it's chokingly clear how awful we must've have been to nonsmokers in the past!

This is what Im doing and it will make me sound incredibly .... retentive but saving money was part of my motivation to switch.
I spent about $200 all together upfront (starter kit extra batts, atyys, pcc, usb charger, juices) that was my analog cig money for about a month..soo..Im not allowing myself to buy another thing for vaping untill I hit that break-even date.
Then I have my bank account set up to transfer my monthly analog cig money ($200) to my savings account...and anything I buy from that point on for vaping will come from there(hoping I can have the strength to look at that money totaling up and resist the urge for new vaping gadgets :)...and HOPEfully there will be some left over each month..once Ive saved enough.. the first treat will be to have my car detailed and permantley get rid of the nasty analog smell! haha
