How much do tanks/Vivis/Clearo last anyway?

I've had my Kanger T2 for a month and a mini Vivi for 2 weeks. I haven't burned a head on either one but constantly I'm reading about various failures: leaking, tanks splitting, clogged air passages that render the whole unit useless. I wonder, how much do they last? Is it worth buying extra heads or whole units? I'd love long term experiences.

I'd look into making your own wick and coils. Then you dont have to worry about how long they will last. When the coils done, you make a new one for a penny. I can make a new one and install it in less than two or three minutes. I'll make a bunch of extras so I dont have to go through the whole ritual every time I need to change it.

yeah rebuilding is awesome. i picked up the skill in no time.
the heads really do last "forever" though. as long as you dont vape the thing past the point of no return- washing, soaking, and dry burning keeps them at tip top performance for quite some time.
i got my first novas in July. the first head got toast bc i wasnt sure how long to push it. but i still have all other heads in operation. i since have bought several more and each of their heads are fully operational as well. once you toss rebuilding into the mix, it becomes an extremly low cost way of vaping.

Completely agree. I would rather save my money for different juices.

One of my clearos started to separate where the metal is fused the plastic, no surprise on that happening. I used tape, stopped oozing but since I like the little thing on an eGo "to go" out some places I paid the few bucks and replaced it. I kept the old one in my "still usable, backup" bin. I didn't want to look too ghetto when I go out

None of my vivi's heads have died, but I rinse and dry burn at the first hint of bad taste in my juice.

My rba's are going fine also. I also use carto's in tanks. I like variety! And I use them each every day. Too many gadgets and flavors, so little time

how soon are you seeing yourself having to rinse and dry burn cause of the bad taste. I just ordered 2 for my Provari (which i just ordered as well) Just trying to get a feeling for these ahead of time

Excuse me but if I could get in here with a question as well as my experience. I wash and dry burn and refill for weeks on these. I just got it wire and wick to rebuild and I'm wondering if after you coil, can you 'dry burn' it before you fill? just to see if you got it right? or will it toast it? Also, do your wicks get thin/break off after awhile of washing? I have only bought new heads and not rebuilt before now. thanks!

No dry burning on new things. It's solely done on heads that have had use, to get rid of glicerin buildup. Do drop a drop into the new coil for the first burn. If it gives vapor is good to go!

its best to check your rebuilt coils on a multimeter or a mod with the ability to test ohms becasue if you put an open current coil on a mod that cant handle it, youll blow your mod.

YUP either get an OHM METER to test your heads/coils or get a mod that can test OHMS. Like the Lambo or LavaTubeV.2 or Provari? I think the provari can test ohm. As can the Zmax and Vmax. So, to get into rebuildables you should have an ohm meter or ohm reading PV right off the bat or you could possibly put your PV in danger, or even harm yourself. AS FOR DRY BURNING NEW heads/coil+wick set ups: You can try new VIVI heads or new coil wraps by dropping a few drips of juice onto your wick/coils. For this you could use unflavored PG/VG if your not sure whether or not you like the juice. You could even use your rebuildable atomizer or VIVINOVA as a dripping atty in this way, so long as you make sure your dripping enough juice into the wick with each session. Once your wick/coil set-up is broken in (and by broken in, I mean has a soot build-up, or a gooey glycol/glycerine build up, then you can do SHORT dry burns. Word? So get yourself some vivi nova tanks and some cheap china made finicky rebuildable genesis attys and do work son.

yes, keep dry burning until the coil glows and there is no smoke/vapor coming from teh coil. you may even want to go with 3 second bursts, with at least a 3 second break, aybe closer to 5. you wont pop a coil this way (unless the coil was ready to pop anyway). you can keep doing it until you get a glowing coil. also, youll notice the burnt residue on the silica wick disappears as well :)

well I actually get a glowing coil with 4-5 count bursts, but still while glowing get some smoke, still. So I guess some soft burns with a gentle glow would be the way to go. I been doing that after switching juices, a quick rinse under hot tap water, then blot dry and a few dry burns with some smoking while it drys the coils/wicks.

Im a little confused as to when I should do a dry burn. Should I wait until I visibly see gunk on the coils? I'm on my first vivi and after 3 fills I rinsed all parts with water as per the PBusardo cleaning video and did a quick dry burn. Should I just be rinsing the wicks out if Im using thin clear juices and see no gunk build up? I just want my heads to last as long as possible. I'm thinking maybe I should wait until I detect a drop in flavor/vapor before cleaning?

Hey guys when you dry burn I know it is in 5 sec bursts with a pause. My question, how many times, in a row, can you do it w/o worry of popping the atty on the Nova, and also should you keep doing it till the atty stops smoking? Hope I am making sense on this question.

Personally I have never found that dry burning an atty will bring it back to like new condition. Nothing like a fresh atty IMOP. That's why I'm a big fan of coiling my own wicks for the novas. I use a new wick and coil everyday. I usually just sit down on a Fri night, or Sat morning and make 7 new wicks for the week. I use cotton or bamboo wicks (which you can't dry burn, without burning them in half). Like someone mentioned it only costs penny's to do this. I prefer the nova minis with a metal tank over the T2s only because I use a cinnamon, peppermint, menthol juice for my everyday and it will eat up the plastic tubes of the kangers and the novas. For some reason
when the tanks started to go frosty, continuing to vape on them would make me feel sleepy... Can't be good I figure. For these reasons, a nova mini with a metal tank and rebuilt cotton wicks are my system of choice. I also don't use an ohm meter as mine broke and I haven't had time to get a new one. I just do 5 to 6 wraps of 32 gage nichome and make sure the wire doesn't touch the sides of the atty cup, and I haven't blown anything up yet.
