Just how long can a vivi nova head last anyway?

I use the 3ml regular vivi nova. I plan to just buy a lot of heads and replace them or recoil them after some use. I tried dry burning but it seems too much hassle and really kills my battery, and most importantly, it doesn't offer the consistent good vape a new coil offers. A recleaned head also doesn't last (perform well) as long as a brand new head in my experience.

So far, I have new heads that can last two tanks (6ml) without any problem such as burnt/bad taste. I was wondering if I can go 3 tanks without changing them. I remember when I first got the vivi nova, I vaped on the default head until it went bad, but I can't remember how much tank that was, I would say at least two.

I would hate to fill up a tank and have the head go bad in the middle, and cause me to waste juice, so I prefer to just replace or recoil heads after a certain number of tanks. So far, I think a safe number is two tanks. Is it safe for me to try 3 tank or 4? What has your experience been?

Thanks

I think you'll find people replying with weeks. I know mine was on it's 4th week when I eventually started re-coiling it, but I just wanted to mess with coils and didn't want to wait till the head gave up. I would go through ~2-2.5 tanks a day, cleaned at least every other day, depending on state of juice in tank (started to thick and dark, I'd clean).

I also never dry burned, just dismantled, washed with hot water, put it back together and started vaping. After a minute or two the vape was back to normal.

Depends on what wattage your using and your juice. Some are thick/sweet those for me seem to form a crust on the coils and build up on the wick causing problems. Also some like cinnamon are down right caustic. I don't know of a set rule. You can of course rebuild that atty by buying cotton or silica wick and 32 gauge kanthal wire. There are a ton of videos on the subject. I have not gone 2 tanks on one yet I change the atty and put the old in alcohol and wash it and dry burn it and am quite happy with the results but i do it after each tank or flavor change.
Hope this helps but there are a lot of variable that appear to affect the outcome.

Wow. I go atleast a week before even cleaning my heads. Most of the time 2 or 3 weeks. Then I just rinse, dryburn, And put it back in. In the past three months I've only replaced one head. And that was just because I was in a rush. I'm sure I could clean it now and start using it again. I love these things.

For the record. I'm not a heavy vaper. 2 to 3 ml a day.

What? So little? Get a Kanger T2, I've been vaping off the same 3 heads for 20 days... Just now I'm trying a mini, when those heads give in I'll decide if I buy any more. The only thing I like so far is using my own driptip

i change my nova head after each tankful. i dump the last .3ml or so bc that part is nearly impossible to vape due to wicking. then i rinse out the parts, dry them off, and place the used head in a glass of vodka.

next step is either pop on a brand new head, or grab one of the ones ive got soaking in the vodka. if you cant see clear, distinct separation between the coils, a dry burn is required. turn the voltage way down (3-3.5v) and give short bursts until the coil glows. this shouldnt kill your battery as the bursting adds up to *maybe* a few deep pulls worth.

once youre all cleaned and replaced/dry burned, you are good to fill the tank back up. i used to go a tank and a half, two tanks or maybe even 3 tanks worth before cleaning and replacing the head, but after doing it that way for a while, i no longer like it. you can never remember how many tanks its been since your last cleaning (especially how i have 4 novas running at all times). and then WHAM you get hit with a burnt tasting head that will make you cry if youre not at home to remedy the situation. even if you are at home, this has happened to me maybe an hour or two before bedtime and it really sucks bc all you want to do is have a few more vapes before bed without having to get up and go through that whole rigormoral just to have a few nice vapes.

also, cleaning all the time keeps the leaks to a minimum. all that sloshing around lets juice build up slowly over time in the tank threads, in the top cap, and sometimes even in the center post. IMO its well worth it to spend the 5 minutes and clean your tank often. take care of your novas and they will take care of you :)

oh, and ftr, i have never had a nova head crap out on me. i rebuilt one of them, just to see if i could (success). i bought my first nova in july, and everything is still A+.

I clean each time with warm water and then set them aside to air dry for a day and tend to get 2- 4 weeks or more depending on the juice I am using. I guess my dry burning attemps are too long because each time I try it the head goes bad after a tank or two. If I simply wash and air dry each time they tend to last about a month. Not all commercially made wick heads are the same and I got one batch that seemed to last for two months. Once in a while I will get one that only lasts a couple of weeks. The short lived ones had smaller cups and the coils were closer together and or overlapped.
