Is there someplace in Steam Engine, coil builds, that shows how much energy it takes to heat up a particular coil?
For instance, if I wrap a single coil with 29g Kanthal, 1.5mm dia., 12 wraps for,1.42Ω, and another coil with 30g Kanthal, 2.0mm dia., 6 wraps for 1.5Ω, I would like to know the difference in the amount of energy used between the two coils. Thanks.

Ok, if I'm looking at the right place, I see mj/K. next to it on the left I see 8.76 for the 30g coil, and 13.93 for the 29g coil. That seems to me a substantial difference in energy.
I normally wrap the 30g for my RM2's on my Reos Grands, but I am trying to get a coil length that is closer to the width between the post holes, if you know what I mean, and I don't want to make it much harder on the batteries to heat all that extra coil up.
What I have been using works, but looks crappy by the time I spread the legs out to get them thru the post holes.

adjust the ID diameter instead.

or use a spaced coil

theres a trick i saw for making a perfect spaced coil by using a paperclip.......
