I'm in it for about $750, but that's for a husband and wife team over 5 months. We've pretty much tried everything by now and are down to buying juice, an occasional replacement bat and a few cartos now and then...so between $100 to $150 month. We used to spend $500 month just on cigarettes, so we're still saving.

5 weeks smoke free and vaping for me. Started with V2 Cigs, moved to Ego-c kit then Ego twist with clearos, just got some dc tanks and ordered a Phiniac pyrex tank and am researching VV/VW mods. Probably at about $200 including juices and cartos, etc. But still ahead of the price range of a carton a week i was going through. And tough to put a price on ending 25 years of smoking.

LOL Read my post from back in the dark ages....http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/new-members-forum/150394-e-cig-misery-4.html#post2429740

I recently filled out a survey that wanted to know how many different devices I have. I stopped counting when I reached 20. I use a few, and have a silly fond connection to the others, enough of a connection to know that I may never use them, but they will always be mine. Not all vapers become what I think of as hobbyists, looking for the biggest and best and latest and greatest, I know 3+ year vapers that still use very simple devices. I can go a few months without needing to buy anything at all, and the money I've saved from not smoking has enabled me to buy expensive devices that require nothing more than a new AW IMR battery every so often.

I never intended to be a "full time vaper", and I certainly never imagined myself becoming an activist. Vaping has not only improved my health, it has educated me, and afforded me the opportunity to meet some phenomenal people I am proud and sometimes humbled to know. Even if I was still paying over $8 a day to vape, which I was paying for a pack when I smoked, I wouldn't change a thing.

Oh, and that old post, I am still vaping the same e-liquid. Some things can't be improved upon.

Cheers!

I had my last death stick on 12/12/12, I was a pack a day smoker for 20 years! Thats about $2200 a year for me, so far I've spent about $250 on vaping supplies, I have 3 batteries, two tanks, two mini tanks and 5 cartos, about 10 bottles of juice, but as I figure it I am at $1 a day vaping from $6 a day smoking... it's great saving money and all but I would honestly spend the same or more just for the benefits! I can breathe, smell, taste better than I have in a long long time...
I am also going to try the DIY juice, can't wait to place an order tomorrow!(payday)

Hey all, just strating to really get into this vaping! Im wondering what everyone has spent, what you bought & why, and over what period of time? Im not even a week into it, and starting to get worried about the cost.

So far I have bought :

Original electronic cigarette m401 starter kit - $70. Bought it about 2-3 years ago, and didnt really get into it.

Then this week, my buddy shows me his set up (dunno what it is, but its huge, and holds A LOT of juice. he let me take a puff off it, and I was instantly sold! Not wanting to wait, I went to the local headshop, and ended up with

e go c starter kit. - $90
a bottle of usa mix 18mg tobacco e-liquid - $20

I loved it imediatly! waaay better flavor and vapor than the old set up... now I'm off the butts for 4 days, without even a thought.

so I did some online shoppping, and decided I want to make my own liquid...

250ml of 100% vg 36mg nic unflavored.- $19
120ml of pg, - $6
and some flavoring $10

Did some more reading, and Oh.. I gots to have one of those twist 1000mah batteries - $25
and oooo look at the vivi nova 2.5 ml cartomizer with 3 relacement heads... $10

add about $10 in shipping, and I'm up to $190 just this week! I know things will even out once I find the "perfect" set up, but dang... this is an expensive hobby! lol The wife is starting to regret forcably "asking" me to quit smoking. I used to spend between $200-250/mo on the stinky butts. So I guess as long as I can make it a whole month without one smoke, she wont complain. I just hope everything I have ordered will be woth the investment.

So what ya'll got invested into this hobby? And has it been worth it?

Can't tell, but I may have to sell a kidney,

So far, a week into it, about $90, between a starter kit and flavored cartridges. And now I'm debating on getting a new setup as I like what I got, just not ready to settle as I look around and see other setups I like. So far, I'm spending more than I did a week on cigarettes, but when I've found what I like and settle in, I think I'll find I'm saving more than I was.

About $350 spend on vaping since right before Halloween. I would have spend over $550 on analogs in this period so a $200 savings so far and its only going to keep increasing.

Maybe we lucked out being in ABQ? :toast:

I've spent about $350 since Dec. 1 - including everything from my first OTC cigalike to the Lavatube I got yesterday (woot!) I'll be even at the end of this month and getting ahead come Feb. - even if I get 30 ml of new juice each week. ...and yes...I have a whole bunch of juice, backups for my backups...etc... :D

Gear and juice - a few hundred bucks
My family telling me they're proud of me (and me being proud of me) - priceless

Thanks for the info and encouragement!
Guess I gotta just find what works the best for me as others have stated. Even if it costs me $1,000 to get off the butts, its worth it! I prolly won't vape forever, was just looking for something to get me thru the 1st month of quitting analogs. Seems like juice is the most expensive part for everyone(or at least finding one worth sticking with) this is why I bought all the stuff to make my own... Flavors are cheap, so if I buy a few I don't like, no biggie.

Anyway... I'll report back with my thoughts after I get all my stuff in the mail, but... I can already say its keeping me off the butts, and worth the costs for now.

I've been vaping instead of smoking for about a year, and spent less than half on vaping than I would have spent on smoking, but it was still quite a bit of money. I think I spent more on vaping than I actually should have because I spent so much on backups. Whenever I got something I liked, I'd go and buy 3 or 4 more right away to make sure I had enough in case all my batteries died on the same day or all my atomizers got fried one after the other, or whatever. The result is that I have a lot of brand new stuff that I've never opened because nothing like that ever happened and I later moved on to other equipment. These days, I don't do that. I buy one of something, and don't worry about having a lot of backups for it. If it dies unexpectedly, I have plenty of less-than-my-current-favorite-but-still-perfectly-good-stuff to fall back on until I can get another of whatever I currently like better. I know I'm going to save even more in 2013 than I did in 2012. And that's not even counting all I'm saving on co-pays for doctor visits and prescription drugs that I don't need anymore. :)

I've been vaping for around 7 months now and probably spent over a grand. Around 3-400 for my 4 PV's and the rest on juice, tanks and rebuildables. My last vape mail was around 160 worth of liquid. Since I got my fatty v2, it's all I have been using...so I have spent less on cartos and attys the past couple months.
