Here, there, everywhere!

OK - so far I have:

Joye 510 - 2 batts, 2 attys (2 more batts and attys on the way)
1 - 10ml menthol e-juice
1 - 10ml cherry (got it free - scared to try it)
1 - usb charger (1 more on the way)
1 - wall charger (1 more on the way)
1 - 10ml marlboro on the way
1 - 10ml camel on the way
1 - Blu Cig Kit with 2 cartons of cartridges but sending it all back!

I do not know what kinds to try to stay on the line of the traditional flavors so scared to try anything bigger than a 10 ml for now.

I have ordered from MadVapor, Artic Vapor and The Perfect Electronic Cigarette Smoke shop. So far so good - any other hinters on good prices and good e-juices?

I have figured out that dripping is much better than cartridges so far but haven't found a good prefilled cartridge (they seem to dry out too quick). Would like a few for traveling so don't have to mess with refilling and dripping - any good ideas there?

One more thing - some of them tend to make my throat tingle when I vape them and some don't - does anyone know why?

Any help would be appreciated!

Sounds like you have enough stuff to keep you going for a while. Once you find out what you like you can order more of it. It tends to be better value to buy juice in larger quantities than 10ml bottles.

As for pre-filled cartridges I recently got a load of 510 cartridges which were being sold cheaply and they are quite dry. Not the best.. For going out and not having to worry about re-filling I find cartomizers are the best solution. These are disposable cartridges and atomisers combined in one. You can buy pre-filled or you can just buy blanks and fill them yourself in advance at home. Put the caps on and they are sealed ready to be used. They can be re-used a few times and binned when they taste bad or no longer vape properly. Looking at one of the suppliers you mentioned here is an example - Refillable 510 Cartomizers

Throat tinkle is probably down to nicotine content but flavour and choice of device also makes a difference

Assuming that you are satisfied with the device, I usually recommend maintaining a supply that could hold out for at least a week.

Why 7 days?

That would be roughly the length of time it would take to receive a replacement from a reliable dealer. If your preferred dealer(s) take longer to ship, then adjust your supplies to compensate.

When it comes to equipment, it all depends on how you use your gear. If you are a heavy vaper, you will undoubtedly go through juice and atomizers quicker than an occasional vaper. If you are just starting out, you may want to hold off on buying 500 of each component. It would suck to be stuck with a crate full of parts that will only collect dust when you switch to using the new UberUltraSuperMega Vape 6000 :)

I test each battery and atty upon receiving it to ensure that it is not a DOA. With the 510, I keep a total of 4 batteries. Two batteries for rotational use (i.e. one charging, one in use). I keep a single atty for use and a five pack in reserve. I leave the backups alone for the most part. Until one dies, I don't touch them. Some people rotate using all of their equipment. Since these devices have an unknown lifespan, why risk having reserves that bites the dust the same time as the main?

If any part were to die, I would have a spare which should last long enough for a replacement to arrive. Even in the event of a mass-atty-suicide, I doubt that I would be without a PV before a replacement part could arrive. Attys generally last at least a month, with some lasting longer. I have yet to run into or see one that lasted less than two weeks with proper use. Bear in mind though, acts of nature and the occasional act of incredible stupidity happen. I've left PV's at work, dropped them down stairs, and even crushed one in a car door. My friend dropped her's in the toilet once. Wierd happens, plan for it.

When my supply of juice (whatever flavor is my current fave) drops to 30ml or less, I place an order for around 50mls. I go through roughly 10ml every three days. Since I found an excellent deal on juice recently I ended up picking up 600mls of my favorite. Since you're still in the "experimental" phase, I wouldn't recommend that. There are many places for juice, each having multiple flavors. Finding one you like may take a while, and there's nothing to say that you won't get bored with it after a few weeks or months.

Keep track of the average lifespan of parts as you use them and you will have a better idea of how many parts you will need to have in reserve. Keep your eyes open for sales, discounts, and special deals.

I guess the best advice is to not overdo it. I spent far too much money on an excessive amount of spare parts for PVs that are now mostly obsolete in my eyes. The industry is changing nearly every month. There will be newer and better devices eventually.

Good Luck,

Tinstar

Great advice from Papa and tinstar!

I wouldn't invest any further in 510 batteries. Unless you are in love with the small form factor of the basic 510 (and are willing to pay the frequent recharge price for it), you should give serious consideration to the "Fat Batts" (as I call them), e.g., eGO/Tornado, Riva, Hello 016. Otherwise, get a PCC for those 510 batts.

And, over time, check out other atomizer models. The 510 atty is the most popular, but it is not the only one and not everyone's favorite. For example, there is increasing buzz about the Joye 306 atomizer and it is compatible with your current batteries (and those fat batts).

As for e-liquid, check out candre23’s list of e-liquid suppliers (with links to their sites), sortable by large-bottle cost, sample-bottle cost, or shipping cost. Some good suppliers are missing (e.g., one of my favorites, Backwoods Brew), but it is an invaluable tool for the thrifty juice shopper.

If your throat starts tinkling, you probably should see a urologist.;)
