I have been vaping for a little over a week now and I LOVE it. However, I really don't know how much nicotine I'm getting from this. I don't want to increase it from what I was getting from cigs. I was smoking 1-1/2 PAD, light cigs. Now I am vaping 16mg pretty much all day. Any help figuring out how much nicotine I'm getting now would be great.
Thanks

If you don't have the urge to smoke and it doesn't make you feel ill its probably the right level. 16mgs seems about right for smoking that much. You can cut it back if you want, I vape 6-12mg liquids. Also if you hold it in your mouth longer and breath out thru your nose you will absorb more nic if needed. Nic is absorbed thru your mouth and nasal passages from vaping unlike smoking that absorbs thru your lungs.

I read a study on here somewhere a while back that said it is estimated that you are only absorbing 50-60% of the nic in your juice.

Yes, but how much juice, and through what type of delivery system equals one cigarette? Does one disposable really equal 2 packs of cigarettes? There are too many variables for anyone to really know at this point.

well start with what you do know - in my case a Marlboro red had 1.8 mg - all of them. 40 a day = rather a lot of it.

What i find as satisfying is a vape at 24 or 18mg - which is ofc completely unscientific, but you get the idea. I am of the opinion that if it's not burning then it's less harmful for you because there are fewer ingredients but i may be wrong.

Like others have said, it can be difficult to tell with so many variables. I would vape what feels right to you and that is probably a good amount. Maybe use that as a baseline for yourself. Track your usage over a couple weeks to find where you're at, and use that to move up or down as needed especially if you're wanting to move down to ween yourself.

I am really surprised how much I can vape, but I did come off of Seneca Reds 1p/d. I can usually feel when I have had enough nic with the vapes. Early in the morning, I get a little headache when I have had too much. Later in the day, that tough because that's usually the time that I would have smoked and do vape quite a bit.

Not sure if anyone else had had this, but do you get fairly tired after vaping too much? lately I am very tired, but I am not sure it isn't just all this heat we have had.

Strangely enough when I have over done the vaping I get hiccups...I tend to mix 11mg and zero oils so depending on my taste for the day I may have more or less nicotine in my e-cig. More and when it tastes so good I just keep vaping and I get hiccups. Less and I can vape for a good long while and am good. *shrugs*

Of course you know you have really done too much when you get nauseous...As to how much you are actually getting there are too many variables to say for sure. Just do what feels good for you and keep yourself off the cigs! :)

This one's a touchy subject because nobody really knows the answer. Here's my way of thinking, take it for what you will.

I've heard that cigarettes have 6-9mg nic each but we only absorb 1-2mg. (~20%?)

Now if it's ~50% for vaping, is that efficiency(half the absorption rate of cigarettes) or actual absorption rate(half the total nic in the liquid)?

Say I vape 10ml of 6mg a day. That's 60mg nic. That's 6mg nic absorbed for efficiency; 30mg for actual absorption.

I doubt it's the latter because I can chain vape through 4ml@6mg when stressed, and still feel like I need to vape, but could never chain smoke more than 3 without feeling sick.

In the end I randomly picked a number between 10% and 50%. (33.333% seems good for mental calculations)

Also note, it could be any of the hundreds of other ingredients in cigarettes that we crave/make is sick

Thank you all for your imput. I was actually asking, because although I do not have any nicotine OD symptoms, I feel like I'm vaping too much. I enjoy the taste so much, and it's still so new to me, that I'm doing it constantly. I don't want to go backwards. I was hoping I was getting less nicotine. I need to start implementing some self discipline.

Interesting. I am obout three months in and had the feeling I was doing too much. I tried having a 0mg on the go as well as the normal 18mg. That was worse. I could tell I was short of nic. Next I tried 24mg. Now I vape less and feel more relaxed, and less worried about how much I vape.
