I guess the majority here and vapers in general are ex-smokers or transients. Hence i believe its the best cigarette cessation tool (NOT an NICOTINE cessation tool as many detractors would it to be).
Anyway there is any statistical or anecdote info on how much people are vaping with or without nicotine without prior smoking history?
For me i wouldnt suggest anyone to either start smoking or vaping without prior nicotine use, even on nicotine free liquids, as, at some time, the user probably would "try" nicotine, sooner or later.

We don't really have any good reliable numbers for this. So far the percentage seems to be very small. I do think this is going to be an issue in the future. There are going to be people who never smoked are going to take it up. IMO, this is not a huge health emergency, but it will be used against vaping. I'd also generally recommend that non-smokers not take it up at this point. In the future we may have incontrovertible evidence that it is no more dangerous than, say, coffee. At this point we can't really say that with absolute confidence.

There was an interesting thread a week or so ago, from a lady whose doctors had prescribed vaping as an alternative to upping her ineffective pain meds. She had never been a smoker and could not use patches because of a skin condition, iirc. She did say the nicotine seemed to be helping. There are also studies where nicotine has been implicated as being helpful for a number of degenerative type illnesses. This really should not be surprising, as many natural products have beneficial properties when used in certain concentrations. Research on nicotine, in this regard, has long been hindered by its association with inhaling combusted tobacco. I do hope that this research continues, though since nicotine can't be patented, there is little financial incentive to study it.
