How much of a difference is there between flavoring brands?

In other words if the recipe calls for 3-5 flavors, do you try and use all flavorings from the same company? or not?
No, I substitute some flavor brands for others. I set my goal of finding 7 or so ADV mixes that I like. I have found these and 4-5 more. Now I'm just looking for others that are better/similar than what I like or new ones that I can add to my ADV mixes for different varieties of flavor tastes.
When I was just beginning, I almost always stuck to the exact brand and percentages recommend in a recipe. After time, I found that my happy spot often differed from the original.
One suggestion, tobaccos are what they are. I found it's best to stick with these mixes when starting out in order to get into DIY and be moderately successful.

I think I am on my umpteen 100ct. bag of 5ml bottles. Whenever I get a flavor, I make bottle of vape juice with that flavor. Depending on the flavor I start with 5-9% of the flavor. Let it steep for a week and vape it.

I take a lot of notes and try to be precise so it is just a matter of slowly building combinations. I used a lot of 5ml bottles and wrote a lot of notes. The reason I do 530ml worth is that I can vape it at different times of the day. My mouth contributes flavor all by itself, especially first thing in the morning.

So many combinations.

Not sure if this will help, but Bull City Flavors has a review and commentary for most of their flavors. I found it useful to find the right manufacturer for the flavor I was looking for. For example, one manufacturer's pineapple might taste more like a candy flavor, while another manufacturer's pineapple tasted more like the real fruit. Of course, its all subjective and your mileage may vary.

Sounds like a great start. Make sure to make small testers of each different flavor to get to know their personalities.

@UpNorth This is a great suggestion, I would go a step further and try each flavor on its own at several different percentages, I usually make testers (5 mls) at 10,15 and 20%, some can be markedly different at differing percentages.

Good luck and have fun.
