have been reading so many different ways to clean my 510 atomizer, first off, how often does this need to be done ? I know you can blow thru your atomizer from the threaded end into a paper towel, I tried this and did get some 'gunk' out,, but I read about using a can of compressed air to blow it out ? I also read that this might damage the atomizer? Can the atomizer be cleaned with rubbing alcohol or washed in water ? I also read this might damage it ? thanks for any tips as always

In my opinion, the best way to clean an atomizer is to not clean it. Lol.

Only clean an atomizer if it is dead and you are trying to bring it back to life. However in that case I would still break down and spend the ten bucks for a new one.

The only atomizers I have killed have been ones I have cleaned.

All I do now is if I flood my atty, I will just take it off my pv, put my lips on my drip tip and blow out the excess fluid. And now I've been using the same atty for almost 3 months. And it's a low resistance 306!

Hope this helps! I've just found the with atomizers the less tinkering you do, the longer it performs well. Which I guess makes sense. I don't know why we have the impulse to tinker with everything.

Well in contrast - my atomizers get gunked up in a way that blowing out doesn't help. Stuck on gunk, reduced performance. When that happens I swap to a clean one (after priming and waiting for the juice to soak in). I used to just clean the used one by soaking in clear alcohol (vodka because I can't get grain in PA), scooping some through and making sure no air bubbles are trapped in atty, and next day I would scoop some through to get out anything dissolved, blow it out, and set it on paper towels to dry. One week my atty was too gunked up so I did 15 minutes in a bowl of near-boiling water instead. It looked great when I took it out. I blew it out and set it to dry for the next swap. It worked nicely again.

My attys are not LR attys because all of my ecigs are slim models - maybe it doesn't get hot enough to burn off old juice on it.

I have tried everything from Acetone to Bat Piss in the search for the best cleaning tech.

For me and the juices I use, mainly 30PG:70VG, I have found that soaking in plain old White Vinegar works by far the best. It is also the cheapest and whole heck of a lot easier to get than Bat Piss.

I have cleaned mine in rubbing alcohol, soaked them overnight in fact. but then I go though a long drawn out drying routine to make sure I don’t end up vaping any.

It does not seem to hurt them at all, however as it is a pain, I am doing that less and less now.

Now I just blow out ( very thoroughly ) a new atomizer, and only mess with them when something is going wrong.

Dry burnt tasting hits - push the wick in the puncture device down 1/16th of an inch
Hard to draw... clean out the inside where the tank goes, clean up the tank, light the atomizer without hitting on it for a couple of seconds, then draw on it
Odd flavors, use a tank of pure un-flavored PG, and draw on that a while before re-loading it with e-juice.

so far.. that has worked for me.

Have not lost an atomizer yet ( but expect to eventually ) – I have only been vapiing for 4 weeks, ( full time with no cigarettes for 2 )
