There are a lot of different ways to clean an atty... I use a 510 with 100% VG and I just blow it out every night and then re-prime it in the morning. When I see that performance has declined then use the Baking Soda and Vinegar method of cleaning and rinse it out with water and allow it to fully dry overnight... This method also has helped get rid of strong flavors out of my atty... Are you direct dripping or using a cart?

I use XL atty's all the time and clean in an ultrasonic cleaner in plain water after 1 weeks use. Each time I change a flavor on an existing atty I just blow out any excess flavor from what I was using and then put on a new full cartridge. Easy-peezy. You only need to prime if you have a dry atty like when you put a freshly cleaned one on or if you let your atty go dry(you let the cartridge run out of eliquid). The atty will overheat and taste awfull. The key to atty/cartomizer is to not let them run dry. It not only tastes bad but stresses the metal wire/mesh making it brittle and decreasing the longevity.

You clean it as often as it needs brother. That is, once you start getting a funny taste, or vapor production drops off. Cleaning couldn't be simpler. Get some water hot in the microwave (distilled is suggested, but meh, I use filtered tap). If you're using distilled water, throw a plastic spoon or bottle cap in the water. Trust me, do this. Boiling doesn't happen when you microwave distilled water, but it will boil once you put something in it, and you'll get burnt. So if you're going to use distilled water, throw something plastic in there.

Next, take a spoon and lower the atty into the water, let it soak for about 15 minutes. Take it out, shake it off. Either let it dry threads down on a paper towel overnight, or flood the atty with a juice to get the water out. And you're good to go.

What I do is run the atty under the hot tap both ways thread first then run water over atty with thread down. I then soak it in vodka over night that breaks down and gets rid of what the hot water did not dissolve. Then re flush it again both ways with hot water just from the tap is fine and leave on the threads as already said on a paper towel to dry. This method has worked for me and I do mine about once a week and still using the same atty 3 weeks on

I’m new to this just got my first Kgo with an atty and need some tips.
I also got a couple of sample packs of juices from Johnson Creek (their regular pg/vg and their red oak which is pure vg) that I want to drip into the atty to test flavors.
How do you “prime” a new atty?
Is 3 drops then vape the right method?
What do I do when changing to the next sample I want to try?

Wow, you guys are really good about cleaning habits. I drip my attys till they taste weird or stopping making clouds and then simply blow out any excess juice then shake them in a 10ml juice bottled filled with 100 proof vodka for a few minutes, rinse with hot tap water, blow em out and reprime. If they're super gunked, a dry burn and repeat my be needed.

here's a good thread on "deep" cleaning: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/tips-tricks/69834-my-atty-resurrection-method.html

On the dripping question, most new attys have a nasty tasting primer when shipped. Blow it all out into a paper towel and then drip 4-6 primer drops. Wait about a minute (lets the mesh get saturated) and drip 2-3 more drops. I usually take a dry hit (no button) just to see if saturated - listening for just the slightest gurgle. If still dry add 1 drop and try again. Once it sounds/feels right vape it till the flavor starts dropping off and then add another 2-3 drops. If you over filled, no biggie. Just blow it out at start over with the 2-3 drops (happens to everyone occaisonally).

For switching flavors either 1) use the taste experiment method (literally drip the new flavor and see what happens) 2) use a couple drops of flavor eraser or pure glycerin in-between flavors or 3) clean the atty between flavors (tho much work for me)

Thanks.
To "blow out" do I just blow into the atomizer, or use compressed air?
If it has a burnt taste from the origional primer, will that go away or does it need cleaning?

If you want to keep it simple.

Once tastes get a little funky (maybe a weeks time). I boil up some water (not a full boil, just real hot), rubber band my atomizer between two chopsticks. And run the kettle down through the atty. After that's all done, blow out all the excess water and set it on a paper towel to dry over night.

Great tip and sounds doable...now I'm off to get some chineese takeout for those chopsticks. :D

blowing out means to simply blowing through the mouth end, catching the primer (or bad juice) in a paper towel (I've never used compressed air). If there is too much burnt gunk you may need a longer soak and a dry burn to get rid of burnt taste.

Found these instructions (here)

Q: How do I clean my elips Atomizer?

Step 1: Remove the atomizer from the battery.
Step 2: Using a bowl / cup of very Hot but not boiling water, Rinse the atomizer thoroughly for approximately 2-3 min. It is recommended that you grip the atomizer using tweezers or pliers during this process to avoid burning your fingers in the water.
Step 3: Blow out all the water from the atomizer and repeat steps 2 and 3 twice more.
Step 4: Allow your atomizer to dry out completely before reuse. Usually 1 day of dry time is sufficient.

Q: Can I disassemble the atomizer to clean more?

Actually yes. This is possible with the eGo-C and the elips atomizers. Simply hold the atomizer firmly and using a pair of pliers gip the atomizer spike and pull straight out. This should expose the heat coil within the atomizer. This will also give more access to the wick inside of the atomizer spike.
