I'm a pretty heavy vaper (constantly when I'm home) and over the past few days I've switched back to carts. I'll go through about 5 carts a day, vaping them dry.

When I drip, its about 4 drops right onto the atty wick and it'll last probably 15-20 minutes before I need to re-drip

Dipping lasts about the same, and is much easier, but I think I'm going to stick with carts for awhile again. Out and about, its much easier to just switch carts. That, and when you drip in public you get some really strange looks.

I use a 510 and haven't found a filler material or method that has allowed the liquid to wick to the atomizer bridge very efficiently so I top off every 45 minutes or so. I'm using PTB filler right now. I like the better draw over poly but that's about it. This is the only thing I hate about the 510. I'm thinking about buying the cartomizer adapter for those times when I'm on the go and don't feel like having to top off all of the time. When I'm at the computer or watching TV it doesn't bother me.

I'm the same way. I top off constantly it seems. I think it's ok, if not normal, but I think it means we're (or at least I) are lying to ourselves about the level of nicotine we're down to. My liquid is only about 5mcg of nicotine because I thin it out, but I'm prolly taking in as much as someone who only uses about 5 carts per day of 18mcg nic liquid.

Wow. :confused:This is really a tough one to call. Variables would be: how long an inhale, how frequent do you inhale, how large a cartridge, what filler material, how thin is the liquid, what voltage are you vaping at. Sitting in front of the pc using an 801 with pass through, I am lucky to get an hour. Out and about with 801 in a Janty stick gets me several hours. An 801 cart on my Xhaler at 5v will not keep up with the atty and puts you in danger of burning out the atty. So I end up dripping every 6 or 7 puffs. HV juice seems to last a little longer than regular juice. I used to use a 501 until I got tired of topping off and changing batteries. An 801 with higher amp batts has greatly improved the time between top offs and batt changes. Changing cart filler material improves it even more. Don't want to put you off but there is a learning and experimenting curve until you find a combination that satisfies you. Enjoy!

I find my self topping off every hour or so - was just wondering if this is normal? or am I doing it to often - After like an hour or so i get that nasty burned fiber taste.

I thought I was the only one who seemed to be topping off so frequently. I have talked to others who have told me to let the cartridges sit for a day or two after refilling to get the most out of it, but it doesn't seem to matter which I do because allowing them to sit doesn't seem to prolong the life...

Are you perhaps talking about cartomizers (2-piece system... KR808D-1 / VaporKing) and not 3-piece carts?

The "let it sit for a day" usually refers to the 2-piece cartomizers.. while I believe this thread is mostly about 3-piece (510 etc..) systems.

Personally I don't "top off" at all. I fill my cartridge with about 14 drops.. vape it until it is bone dry.... and then do a complete refill (or pop on another prefilled cartridge).

Of course, stock cartridges won't generally allow you to do this.. but the recent round of mods has gotten us to where this is a reality.

I top off quite a bit too. I use a 510 with a spring mod. I even tried moving the spring to one side and using slightly longer fill to hang down into the cart, like a wick. It works, but it's hit and miss. The atty needs to be working well, otherwise you get either a mouth full of juice or a burnt taste because it's dry.

Waiting for my Chuck!:D

The blue foam cart mod has made my life a lot easier. I just fill my cart like 2-3 times a day, with NO topping off. Check out mod section/ cart mods and read the blue foam one.

Im a newbie to vaping, only few days now but smoke free,
can u tell me what this blue foam is?
is it used in the cart, to replace the white stuff in it? can u use with any model ecig?

if so, where can i get some?

The blue slug is a beast. Rarely do I have to fiddle with it. Most the time it's dry when I check to see why I'm not getting juice. I believe the only issue Eclypse is working on now is better air flow to help deliver the flavor.

Before the slug, I used both the spring mod and PTB. The PTB needed to be topped off every 5 or 6 drops and needed to be replaced every few days. The spring mod worked pretty good, but the filler would always start clogging things up and I was replacing it a couple times a day.

At 6v with a 510 BSB, I'm refilling every couple hours at home, once at work.

Just for information's sake, I do not use the plug or slug or spring although I have tried them both. They were much to unreliable and took much too much effort. I use the blue aquarium foam as a total replacement for the stock filler. It is a little wider at the top to form a bit of a 'plug' so to speak, but this method works fantastic for me. I vape every cart completely dry with no leaks.
