omg! ugh,

didn't mean to be offensive, but facts of life / biology can be a bit ewww

I think it is really important NOT to introduce outside bacteria into the lung tissues.

Unlike our stomachs, which has strong acids as well as flora and fauna that eat things, the lungs really don't have as many *protections*.

I also would never poor previously-vaped juice out of a clearomizer back into a juice bottle for the same reason.

Drip tips are especially prone to a lot of germs, because we are not disposing them like we did with cigs. I would carry alcohol wipes or wash in sink as often as I wash my hands during the day.

I clean mine if I am changing the flavour or if it's been vamped down 4-6 times. Starts to get a bit of gunk after that. Usually just take apart and rinse all components and just wipe off the coil. No vodka here so I don't usually fuss to much with the coils and just change them after a while. I will probably start rinsing them with water to. I was not doing that because I thought it might damage them but after reading this thread seems that it's no harm.

Dont you boil water to kill bacteria? Isnt the vapor you inhale from vaping a result of high temperature (like steam from boiling water). Why wouldn't the heating of the juice remove bacteria from the actual vapor?

Isn't PG used in cosmetics and the likes to kill bacteria? Someone once told me not to be too diligent with cleaning, because the PG in the liquid already protects the tank from bacteria. However, I can see the point keeping the chimney well clean. I use a q-tip once a day to dry the chimney of my clearo's and wash my driptips every day with some hot water. Once a week I put them in a bath with vodka.

1. PG has antibacterial properties.
2. VG inhibits bacteria (does not feed them, dehydrate them). In combination with 1 it means that bacteria are either killed or inhibited in a juice (depending on PG content).

So, I am not afraid of bacterial growth. I do not believe I have some air back flow while vaping, so no spit in juice. I rarely wash my tanks, I have no problem with juices mixing (I rather like some unexpected results).

However I have discovered (and I was greatly surprised) how dirty my lips are only when I started vaping. I wash drip tip at least couple times a day. Dirt from lips may contain a lot of bacteria and food for bacteria to grow nice bacterial colonies (at least theoretically)...
