I've read people say coils last for months, others say longer. I have a coworker who has local b&m build his once a week, mine seem to still be good after a few months, any opinions on noticeable difference with coil getting old.
MH coil lasts 2 1/2-3 months. I rewick after 12-15 mls Juice 3-4 days.

Funny you should ask. Coils are made of what? Wire? Metal that gets hot?

When starting out I rebuilt often. Usually the build I tried did not work as expected or I wanted to try something else. Later on I would rebuild because for the life of me I could not recall what TC wire I built with!!o_O

Fast forward to today where I label all my tanks with what builds are installed I rarely rebuild. Sure I might pull the wick on a gunked up coil, dry burn and rewick but that does not count in my book.

Unless I fubar the coil while removing the wick to dry burn I can't see any reason to wind up a new coil just because the old one has been in use for some time.:thumb:

While some builds get gunked up quicker than others I don't think I've ever had a coil outright FAIL and need to be replaced.

The coils themselves will last ages with a good dry burn and rinse when you rewick. I've had the same 0.3 in my doge v2 for like a month and I haven't had any noticeable performance change. Same with all my subtank rba's as well now that I think of it. As for rewicking, well that depends on your juice.

Hehe. Same here. Between the 3 tanks I own, I only rebuild one maybe every 2 months. I usually forgot what build is in them. Last 4 months, ben writing down what build (s) are working well in each tank. Have a sticky in the build drawer with notes/builds for each tank (cloud build, flavor build, perfect in-between build, or super battery efficiency build)

It depends on the content of your liquid and the coil properties.

A dark sweet liquid will change the condition of the coil much faster than unflavored liquid.

I also notice that spaced wraps tend to stay cleaner than contact wraps.

I use unflavored and the coils last will be fine for over 4 months. The wicks can go just as long. I should replace my coils and wicks though, lol. I have a few RTAs with coils that are 6+ months.

Yeah, too many variables, depends on the wire used on the coil, the thicker, the longer, depends on the juice, the nastier the worse it gets, depends on how much you vape, the more, the less.
I've had coils that I've hit hard and regularly with NET juices that last months. I've got coils I don't use much that are years old and still work fine!
Use 32ga and they wont last as long as 22ga, that's just a given! Use a juice with a lot of flavorings vs. a juice with minimal flavorings, the less wins every time.
I pulled the coils out of an Arctic tank and burnt them off, re-wicked them and stuck it all together, fine, but depending on the juice you use, I can't say you can do it.
Two to three weeks, with and average of 12ml a day is a decent average, but it varies too much to try to nail it down. Sorry.

    I only vape Kanthal.

What i do is build to .8-.9 ohms.

As you use a coil the resistance will gradually rise. When the resistance gets up to 1-1.1 ohms i remove and rebuild.

    Indefinitely !.

Does depend on the thickness of the wire though.

I don't see any reason why i'd ever change a coil i built with 25g. Why change it ?, could last for years. After a dry burn there is a brown powdery substance covering the coil which i just remove with a tooth brush. The coil is as good as new after that.

On the other hand i use 32g in my Kayfun V4. That will actually only last me maybe three or four months but only because it's so fragile that when it comes to re-wicking it can get a little tricky cleaning it. Eventually it gets too damaged to continue using so i'l just build a new one. Three of four months isn't bad though.

I uss 28 gauge in attys you trap wire under screw heads (Kayfun, RBA of tge subtank Mini, SXK Nebula wine)

25-26 gauge in attys with Post holes (Goblin Mini, Silverplay nano, Orchid, etc.

Hardly anyone, if anyone at all, i can recall ever uses wire as thin as 32g. I was speaking to a couple of members about it and they were saying they use 28g in their Kayfun too. Though they do use a P3. I tried 28g in my Provari 2.5 but the ramp up is just to long for me. So i stick with 32g at 3.7 volts to optimize power. One AW 18650 lasts a good couple of days. And honestly !, i can't really see the point of using thicker wire in my Kayfun when used on my Provari 2.5. The vapour production is relatively the same !, but the battery power barely lasts a day not to mention the slow ramp up time. But they say that 32g is just too fiddly and fragile. For me, with an inner diameter of 1mm the coil still remains pretty rigid.

I only use thicker wire in an RTA with two or more coils. My Zephyrus can accommodate four 5 wrap coils of 25g with an inner diameter of 2.5mm. Pretty low ohm's at 0.16. But they really do last and last. Can't remember when i built them.
