After work, I would vape around our customers. At first, I was very self-conscious about the clouds I was putting out but our regulars were starting to come up to me saying things like "I hate cigarette smoke but that smells so good" and quickly a game started called "Guess what flavor I'm vaping today." It's very popular. I'm kind of a big deal. People have made renderings of me while vaping.

o pictor - where has sloth not been...even in alleyways so dark that the dim light of the fortified turtleshell could not break way in the mist of lovers once united by grim destiny

slaid the dragon over there twicefold; now cup of coffee and some wakonda
OK, dragon slaying is good ....Wakonda & coffee well deserved!

Another thing we have to think about beyond what Pen said is there are people who have never smoked who react to vapor like smoke from the PG or VG. My MIL is very supportive of my vapor but can not breathe around it. When we have a gathering at my house she always says it's fine that I vape but goes into huge coughing fits even if the vape isn't going right at her. Last Thanksgiving she coughed so bad she almost threw up and I was all the way across the house from her.

My husband coughed slightly for a few months and now he's fine.

My FIL is fine, no problems.

As vapers we have to remember when we started vaping if we took too big a hit we'd cough too (or at least I did and others who have tried to quit smoking found the vape so hard on their lungs they gave it up or kept trying only to cough up blood...) So winning friends is very good, but if we vape in front of a bunch of folks not sure if we should be supported or not they will decide against us if one in the group starts coughing frantically.

Now vape juice (unflavored but essentially the same) is used in kiddo fog machines for Halloween and for fog effects for stage productions. The Actors Guild has a strict protocol concerning the use of fog machines and the director cannot expose the actors for longer that 10 or so minutes. The company putting on the show has to disclose there are fog effects as some folks can't be exposed to it. At work we are a guild house so both are done and even so I've witnessed people leaving a performance during the fog with extreme coughing fits. We have lost leading actors because they couldn't make it through the fog sequences without coughing like crazy so had to quit the production.

We do the same thing making vapor so as Pen said we need people supporting us not finding they can't handle the vape and write us all off as horrible degenerates. Just somethng to think about...

I was being open about it until my mom flipped out, and thought someone would call the police on me. Now I'm less inclined to vape in public. I don't want negative attention nor the hassle of explaining that really, its just nicotine!

Ugh, Chantix! I threw up every time I took it. Then had a massive allergic reaction.

I just use common sense...

If I am in a bar or restaurant, I ask my server or the bartender - most of the time they say "no problem" or "vape it if you got it" or something to that effect...

In stores, I'm just stealthy... Wal-Mart, etc. If I am in Wal-Mart for more than an hour, Lord knows I have earned a vape. LMAO

I'm fortunate to be able to vape at work in every situation except in the lab itself (when mixing liquid). Easy enough to step out if I really feel like I need to... but I feel much less dependent on vaping as compared to smoking so I rarely have to take a vape break.

That's kinda how I feel with vaping, too... it's not the MUST DO IT RIGHT NOW!! that smoking was; easier to just think, well I can wait a few minutes. So far I haven't vaped in Walmart, unless you count pulling it out as I approach the exit and hitting it as I'm leaving. Since I'll be outdoors before I exhale, I figure nobody really cares. The rough part is, finishing the hit and inhaling just as I'm walking out, and get a big whiff of cigarette smoke along with the vapor... bleah! :D

When I smoked, all of my friends and family knew I did - I made no secret of it. I smoked in the house, in my car, basically anywhere that smoking was allowed. As a vaper, I do the same. As penguiness said, common courtesy (and sense!) is paramount, so I don't vape in stores, theaters, restaurants, etc. - basically anywhere that it might bother somebody else. I have no desire to be militant about it, anymore so than I was with smoking - but I won't hide it either. Sometimes being furtive and sneaky about it imparts more of a sense that you're doing something wrong/illegal to an onlooker.

As an aside, I have many non-smoking/non-vaping friends who have no problems whatsoever with me vaping in their homes and/or cars, whereas they never in a million years would have tolerated me smoking in them!

I didn't hide my smoking so I don't hide my vaping either. I vape around my kids, in their cars and in my own. I didn't smoke in their cars but did smoke in my own. I vape in my house with my grandson here however, I didn't smoke in the house nor did I allow anyone else to. As a matter of fact, I purchased the things to vape for my 17 yo son because I'd rather see him vaping than smoking. I vape at work but not around others and stealth vape when I have to. Otherwise I go outside or to the locker room. I basically keep the same principle I did when I smoked. If smoking isn't allowed then I don't vape either. So far it hasn't been a problem. The company I work for encourages vaping as a means to quit smoking. A local company that sells batteries, tanks and liquids sets up in the cafeteria every 3 months to show the smokers what vaping is all about and how they can be used to stop smoking. Plus, the company will give you $100 back on any ecig stuff you purchase providing you attend 2 smoking cessation classes and give them your receipt. Not a bad deal.
