Well, the small size is not necessarily the aim - it is a matter of re-thinking the design by pushing on a boundary; this might lead to an innovation that's not about size.

The design I posted uses rechargeables. Furthermore, a small design uses least materials = least "wastage".

Together with a power pack, that design also allows portability without a wire link while actually vaping.

ok, smallest theoretical design i can come up with would be .8 inch wide, 1.5 inch long, .8 inch tall... considerably smaller than the one above.

supplies needed would be:
.01mm nichrome wire coil
small kevlar wick
ceramic pipe that fits loosely over the nichrome coil
8 ms920s button cell batteries
charging circuitry (to keep it small, timer would probably be better than full charge circuit)
usb connector
surface mount switch

ms920s specs
3.0-3.2vdc @ 11mah
9.5mm diameter x 2.1mm height

2 stacks of 4 in parallel would provide 3.0-3.2vdc @ 88mah
2 stacks of 4 in parallel + series would provide 60-6.4vdc @ 44mah

size would be 19mm x 8.4mm (add a lil for wiring or tabbed connection and insulators) 20mm x 9mm

insert nichrome coil into ceramic tube, leave wick long enough to run through coil and outside tube

that should provide a drip only device capable of 100 or so puffs, rechargeable from any usb source
