I had a lot of fun building my first mod, and thanks to this tutorial it was mostly a success! Thanks again Sonar for the great tutorial, it really made it easy for me!

I've been using vivi nova's almost exclusively, so I wanted to make something specifically for my for my cotton wick novas. I wanted to get the led to light up the tank, but the led I have isn't bright enough I think. I used the small green led from madvapes, maybe the bigger one will do the trick? I'm using an 18490 in this. I'm thinking of building a single battery vv version now! :p

First off, nice mods to all three of you guys, the how to is paying off nicely. :)

Joe, if you are using a 470Ω resistor that limits the light emitted quite a bit, lowering that to 200 or even 100Ω's will make it brighter. You do have to pay attention to the allowed voltage and different colored LED's voltage requirements, but....

The other thing, to light up that tank, it won't be all that effective if it is lit up from the side, but much better if the end of the tube is lit like with fiber optics. The way I see it the metal tank ends block the tube's ends so this doesn't seem so possible. Where is the LED actually?

The led is near the top between the switch and tank.

I get a faint glow in the tank in a darkish room and almost nothing in bright surroundings. I might try a brighter led and/or a lower ohm resistor like you guys have mentioned. Not sure if I could ever get it to be how I imagined, but something fun to fiddle with :)

Not to long ago I attempted a similar thing it seemed to work pretty well. A couple of things different tho more of my tank showing outside of the box so you might try addiing a 510 to 510 short extentder. and I was using a 5mm fast changing LED. Here is what I was getting in normal room light.

With the lid closed the LED was right next to clear tank section of the vivi nova. Hope this helps.
