Hi... A lot of people have asked me to do a video on how to build my 5v mods. I made one on YouTube for you. They all use a 5v regulator, a switch, pipe, and fittings. Sorry the video had to be rushed, but you don't have much time on YouTube. Hope you can get something out of this.YouTube - How To Make A 5 Volt Electric Cigarette Mod
If you have any questions, I will try to answer them as best I can.
Thank you

Hmmm... no comments! I guess I did the video for nothing, or no one liked it. Sorry.

Personally I enjoyed the heck out of - BUT the problem is - I don't do electrical, mechanical, any of that kind of stuff - I don't even work on my own car. I leave stuff like this up to people like you who are good , well, at stuff like this. I'm a photographer and do that quite well, at least enough to make a living. But it was interesting to see how this is done and I'm envious of people that are good at stuff like this.

Thanks for sharing ! :)

( P.S. The music was great to - " Blackbird " by the Beatles of course ! But then, anything by the Fab 4 gets my attention rather quickly )

I enjoyed the video, but as scottyballs said, a closeup would have been much more helpful to others out there looking to build their own mods. I know it's more work but I doubt something like this can be accurately explained in one 10 minute video, it would be nice to have it in 2 or 3 parts to show a bit more detail.

If it helps, I took some pictures when I made my first 5v box mod with the 4-pin regulator from madvapes, might be a good companion to this video to show how the wiring actually looks - although I used the circuit board he provided which may not fit in a tube-style mod:

That's funny... I'm a commercial advertising photographer, and a woodworker! (I know, funny combo) I just like fiddling around with things like this. I know I have to show close ups, but when you have a 7yr old son wanting all of your attention when you're home, it's a little hard to get done what I did.
Thank you all for posting!

Small world - I shoot mainly family portrait stuff, HS seniors, dance, proms, all that boring stuff - BUT it pays the bills ( most of the time ) anyway - it's great to have making these as a side hobby - I can only imagine having a 7 yr old into that stuff all the time - I have 3 kids - ages - 26, 25, and 13 - so I'm home free as far as wanting to hang out with me !:)

a true detail drawing showing how to wire the regulator, led, resistor & switch would be so wonderful... please please please draw me a picture...
Go to MadVapes.com. Mark has drawings under his regulators of exactly how to hook up the wires. Here is a link there: MadVapes LLC
Here is a drawing that Mark has on his site:

that is for using the 4 pin regulator.
Hope this helps.

Hopefully this pic will help show the mod construction.

Here is the inside battery terminal I made that will be glued inside the pipe for the positive battery connection. It is sealed with silicone.

This is a full blown apart shot. The positive lead goes to the switch, then from the switch to the left pin of the 5v regulator (positive in). The center pin goes to the 510 battery connector (outside, ground), and the right pin (positive out) goes to the center of the battery connector.

I hope this helps. I will be posting a close up video on YouTube on Tuesday. I'll have it here as well.

I didn't know that. Here is what the description of the batteries is:

* Never explodes or will catch on fire
* 100% Compatible with Disposable CR123A Batteries
* Working Voltage:3.2V and Peak Voltage: 3.6V
* Charging cut-off voltage: 3.6V
* Discharge cut-off voltage: 2.2V o Please never overdischarge battery below 2.2V/cell o Charge this battery with LiFePO4 RCR123A smart charger.
* Capacity: 750 mAh
* Maximum discharging rate:< 550 mA
* Maximum charge current: <550 mA
* Cell's dimension: 17mm Dia. x 34.5mm H.

The part that I'm concerned with is that it will never explode or catch on fire. I don't need that near my lips!

Thanks for your post.
