Kay, if you want to keep your eGo in your pocket - still handy, but clean - check these out:
GotVapes 2-Piece eGo Cone w/ Screw-on Cap - PEN-CLIP STYLE BLACK [gv-egoVERTICALCONE-penclipBLACK] - $7.50 : GotVapes.com, E-cigarette Supplies - Atomizers Cartomizers Mods Juice and more - black, pen clip
GotVapes eGo Cone w/ Screw-on Cap - REGULAR STYLE STAINLESS [gv-egoVERTICALCONE-regularSTNLS] - $6.75 : GotVapes.com, E-cigarette Supplies - Atomizers Cartomizers Mods Juice and more - stainless, no clip (out of stock at the moment)

I have the no-clip version in black myself and I LOVE it. A wide variety of cartos will fit nicely inside the tube. It'll keep chaff/lint away from the battery connection and your mouthpiece. The cap screws on so it's secure (better than using a condom, IMO - I tried that too, this is much better). Easily unscrew the cap for a quick vape, then right back into your pocket or purse. It protects the carto/batt connection by encasing it in a metal tube, which has eliminated all my concerns about taking a CE2 (or similar tank-style carto) out into the world, since they are a leak-prone and somewhat fragile. This combo was a total solution for me, works great and looks good too.

I noticed another vendor who was selling these as part of a carto kit, but can't recall who it was, sorry.

Measurements, since this info isn't part of the product description:
Length of vertical "cone" from bas, including threads exposed with cap off - 2-3/16"
Length of cap - 1-1/8"
Total length - 3-3/16"

If your carto/mouthpiece assembly of choice is between about 2-1/2" and 2-3/4" (measuring from the carto's base, not including the threads that screw inside the battery well) - it should fit. The inner diameter of the tube is a bit larger than a normal eGo cone - so it's great for those clearomizers that are slightly too fat to be cone-friendly (unless of course you modded your regular cones already). This cone/cap combo is great for Visions (depending on length), Sapphires, and XL-size CE2s.

NOTE: Regular length cartos are just too short for this, but might be long enough with a 510 extender and a DT. Sadly, both Fusions and 801 atties are too fat to fit, as is my Ming DT from Cherry Vapes.

I don't think I would vape any carto that got dropped in the chicken coop. Yick. Even if it was a brand-new Fusion, I'd just have to trash it.

OT - you might like that cone/cap thingy too. It completely encloses the carto but still has plenty of airflow, so it would keep particulates away from the air intake holes.

When this tube is screwed onto the eGo battery, only the button band remains exposed.

I believe GotVapes is expecting to restock these after their next shipment arrives - e.g., soon.

If you know someone who is diabetic and uses Novolog Flex Pen, the cap fits over an eGo w/ cartomizer and drip tip. It stays pretty securely attached to the cone, about 1/4 inch above the button band. It's not the prettiest solution but I use when I'm doing yard work with my PV in my shirt pocket. It's basically like a marker cap but longer.

Little update on that cover I mentioned - it was Good Prophets who also sells that cone-cap thingy. It looks to be the same item, but there they refer to the carto as a Humongomizer ... available as separate parts as well as a combo, in two sizes.

GoodProphets.com - Your View into the World of Vaping...

And, currently on sale! (the individual spare parts, not the combo).

I've vaped my share of hayseeds and loose leaf alfalfa over the last year or so, and they do not taste good, trust me, but the atty's primed back to normal. I use a COV lanyard, and keep it tucked inside my shirt when not in use. It's light weight, and so easy to pull out when needed. But, I'm not around heavy machinery, (hubby and daughter do the cat work), so I'm not sure if I should advise a lanyard for those situations. For all other chores, it's great though. :) Good luck.

Yeah, I usually knit instead though. Right now I am trying to figure out how to make a chain maille case for my cig stuff. Going to have to put some lining inside somehow so stuff doesn't get scuffed up from the rings. Still in the pen and paper design stage for that one though.

Serianna-

Choose a very supple leather, something like doe hide.

SS rings 1/4" diameter, probably 22 gauge. I'd go with a 6 on 1, better looking than 4 on 1 but not nearly as heavy as going with a king's maille (8 on 1) pattern.

Once you've got everything pieced out and ready to assemble you can actually stitch the maille onto the leather. Gives it a very classy look and still has the scuff protection you're looking for.

Btw, thank you for taking me back to my days working at the RenFaire, I remember doing a very similar thing to a set of gauntlets.

Ah hah! Very good idea! For armor sets I actually quilt an undershirt, breeches etc for the piece, but I have no experience stitching maille to cloth / leather.

Thanks for the info, I will be doing this is sterling silver when I get around to it (and my RA accommodates my plans.)

I was thinking of doing this in either Gracelock, Eflsheet, or Tiffany (can get CGI graphics on hover HERE for those 3.) I have to admit I am partial to Gracelock due to how stiffly it weaves, it would enable me to make a "hinged" box to line vs a pouch. I still need to plan out how big I want it as well. I have been thinking of building it into a largeish box I can put a dragon back strap onto, then carry it around as a purse if I make dividing walls inside.. So many options to consider :)

Wow Serianna, its been quite a few years (ok a decade or more) since I've crafted anything in maille. Even then it was always function over form, so nothing ever quite as decorative or intricate as what you're suggesting. Then again, what I made was designed to deflect a blade, not a particularly sharp blade, but something that could still cause some damage.

That being said, I love the look of both the Gracelock and the Elfsheet, the Tiffany's nice, but I worry about excess weight with it.
