How to clean a battery end?

I'm still relatively new here and I'm wondering how you would even begin to clean the battery so that it doesn't clog up. It's so small. What would you use? If I missed something somewhere on the forum, please forgive me.

Found something better. A needle and a small bobby pin.

I have been using a little brush that i got in a male nail grooming kit

i actually use a needle and a Q-tip with the end twisted to a thin point.
