Hello All,

Does anyone know of a substance that can be used in conjuction with a qtip to quickly (meaning I don't want it to sit at all) remove oxidation from a 510 brass pin inside the 510 connection? I have a microstick, so the pin is not easily accessible or visible. Isopropyl alcohol does nothing for oxidation.

Thanks!
Hi mate,
So the ketchup did not work?
Did you try salt and vinegar?
Perhaps a bit of 1000 sandpaper or some SS mesh might take the tarnish away...

Cheers

Hello, as mentioned I don't want a substance that needs to sit to work. (ketchup) I will give salt and vinegar a try, but sandpaper/mesh would require that I take the microstick apart to get to the pin.

Thanks!

I use a 1/4 Inch Red Cratex Rod. A couple of Turns with some light pressure and the 510 Pin in a 510 Connector looks Factory New.

I would take the MicroStick apart and polish the brass bar that connects the battery's positive pole to the 510 and clean the 510 pin and threading. I use a sunshine cloth to clean the brass bar and a vinegar/ketchup soak to clean the 510. I wouldn't hesitate to take it apart - it's a mechanical mod and it's good to periodically take it to bits and clean it.

Not related to cleaning brass threads, but I believe that the MicroStick now comes with a SS switch screw by default that makes contact with the negative pole of the battery. In my experience, using the SS switch screw results in a significant voltage drop. I suggest purchasing a brass switch screw from mini-e-cig or from elsewhere.

I have taken it apart and cleaned it numerous times. I was looking for a quick, daily way to clean it without the hassle of taking it apart...

Directly from my post "Isopropyl alcohol does nothing for oxidation." Does Ethyl alcohol work any differently?

I wouldn't go so far as to say that Regular Cleaning with Isopropyl Alcohol does nothing for Oxidation.

Because the Easiest way to Deal with Oxidation is to Prevent/Slow it down from forming in the 1st Place. And Regular Cleaning of your 510 Pin with Rubbing Alcohol and a Q-Tip will Do just that.

To remove Existing Oxidation from a 510 Pin, see Post #24.

Oh and to Answer your Question...

I don't Believe there is any Functional Difference between ANY type of Rubbing Alcohol with regards to Removing Existing Oxidation.

Q: "I want results, but I want them right now and I don't want to put in any time or effort! Boo-hoo!"

A: Good luck, broh!
