Hi there,

I've been vaping for almost a year now, making my own juices at home. I only vape zero-to-low-nicotine juices that are VG based, and because of the high VG presence I usually feel super dry after a few puffs, which forces me to drink lots of water.

Now to my question: Is there a way to counter this or at least ease up the dryness in the liquid making stage rather than in the post stage? I only add very little water alongside my flavor to my VG.

Will adding more water help? (If so, how much of it would be sufficient in percentage to the whole mix)
Is there something else that I could add that can fix this issue?

Thanks :vapor:

This is the first time I read someone is having that problem with VG based juice; usually it happens to users of high PG. You may try adding 10% distilled water to your Glycerine and making an small batch of juice with that. Although, honestly in my case i would change to other VG brand.

What kind of flavoring are you using, and what amount of it?

I'm not a doctor and don't play one on tv so please keep it in mine that what follows is pure conjecture on my part.

I think it's beneficial to just go with it and drink lots of liquids. Vg is a humectant and so pulls moisture out, sure, but if you keep well hydrated then you're just pumping some extra water through your lungs. It's not a cure all by any means but I think it helps with colds, sinuses and so on, or at least it seems to do so for me.

Occasionally my lungs will start to feel a little heavy for a short time but then I'll cough and clear them. Not pleasant but short lived and I think it's worth it to clear the lungs.

Also don't go with the old time saying that it has to be just water to do any good. Certainly it's good if it's mostly water, but any liquid will help keep you hydrated including coffee, teas and so on.

On your question about adding water to your juice. If you add 10% water to your juice and go through a 10ml bottle in a day you will be absorbing 1ml of extra water. That's about 1% of what you would get from drinking one small glass of water. So I don't think adding water to juice would make any difference to hydration. I use all VG and sometimes add a few drops of water to make it flow better, but that's the only benefit you get from it.

So just drink water. It's good for you anyway. It's not like you have to swig gallons of it.

I didn't mean that extra 1ml of water would supply all the water he needs. But it would help.

Advicing him to drink plenty of water is not a bad advice, but i am sure is not the response he is looking for either.
