How to Create an Insulated Wick Hole in a Genesis Atomizer

Having owned a wide assortment of Genesis style atomizers, I have to say I am absolutely sold on the insulated wick hole feature found on the RSST and Z-Atty products (with the RSST having the best insulator design out of the two)

That being said, I have several Genesis atomizers that unfortunately do not come stock with an insulated wick hole; therefore, I am curious if anyone can provided step by step instructions as to how to go about modifying your standard Genesis Atty in order to incorporate such?

I am really interested in replicating the RSST approach but not sure how feasible that is

If you have any cartos, there is a little white sleeve that works well as a wick insulator, pull the "stuffing" out of a new carto, locate the sleeve, pull that out, and cut to size, I have a pic on here somewhere, I'll see if I can find it.

what differences do you notice between gennys that are and are not insulated? I ask because I have both and never found a difference.

From my experience, the only benefit of an insulated wick hole is for ease of initial set up. Once the ss mesh is properly oxidized, whether by pulse method or torching, it serves no purpose. I removed them from my ZAPs.

In theory there shouldn't be a need for insulation as your wick should not be electrified in the first place. That being said, some people remove the inner strands from ekowool and use the sleeve as an insulator. Just stick your wick in it.

I find the insulated wick hole provides a tremendous amount of ease in terms of initially setting up your wick. Makes eliminating hot-spots effortless. Simply put, it allows for both the positive and negative posts to "fire"
