Just wanted to pop in and say thanks for the suggestions on fixing the airy draw.
I've had my ProTank for a few weeks and have been desperately trying to love it.
It's bee-YOO-tee-ful but the draw is so airy that it makes my teeth hurt! And it
whistles if I screw it all the way down on my Evic. A really high-pitched, irritating
whistle....

I like the draw on the T3 but it's just a *little* tight. The Evod is perfect but
the small capacity is a little irritating. Plus they look a bit silly on top of an Evic.
:p

Try this, when using the Protank on your eVic: Screw the tank all the way down, the check if you can loosen the top cap of the eVic, as in, see if you can screw it a bit towards the Protank, so that the two parts make tight contact. That helped the noise quite a bit here - I've done no other tweaks/modifications, apart from this.

For those of you who have twenty pro tank heads on the way....I use plumbers tape. Very thin, easy easy to work with and pure white. 99cents little guy. Thinner than onion skin paper. One single wrap with slight over lap to hold it. You can poke a hole or a few whatever to adjust draw. I smooth it in a thin line type thing and for get about it. Im like the Protank and this white stuff is why. I suppose if i was to be out on a party thing id use a bit of wrap like skinz or those? Just a ring of it. Poke my holes. Too bad its not perfect! The altenative replacement tanks sounds like a try if my Protank lives that long. For me it will probably still be too airy. This tape stops popping and noise too. Not immediately but alsmost

I tried this with plumbers white teflon tape. Didn't have a pin handy so made a coupla small slits with my thumbnail and it really tightened up the draw nicely. I'll try it around the threaded portion and poke holes with a pin later.

It really has helped. THX for idea.

FWIW, using an Evod head and a small strip of electrical tape across one of the air channel grooves (on the underside of the ProTank's base) improved the draw a LOT for me. Messing around with the position of the tape eventually eliminated that irritating whistle as well.

A commentor on one of GrimmGreen's vids suggested switching out the air post (the top part that separates from the base to expose the coil and wicks) FROM a T3 TO the Evod head that you're using in the ProTank worked too. I tried that and got massive flooding.

But the plain Evod head and a piece of tape worked like magick!

Here's a photo for no real good reason.
Tank is fulla Heather's Heavenly Vapes Dragon Fire.
GOOD STUFF!
Even better once it steeped for about 9 days.
edit:
Just noticed that the tank is sitting a bit off-center.
Can't tell when you're not staring at a high-rez image.

So I have some news to report. Had a buddy show me how to make a custom wick and coil (1.53 ohm, 1.5mm silica x3, 30g KAnthal wraped six times) on the protank head. The vape was way better but still airy. Tried an evod head with 1 wick removed and it is better but not by much still airy but for me a better vape. I have started using the ego cone that comes with the protank and that seems to help a bit (since it does not have additional air grooves in it). Now with more vape and airy it's pretty decent. I guess my main issue was not just it being airy but not producing enough vape and being airy. Airy and lots of vape is much improved from where it was.

Low Budget:

I've found that taking a long, slow, easy drag (somewhere between 5 and 10 seconds) produces the best vapor/throat hit/flavor for me.

As a former smoker, I instinctually took fast, hard drags with tons of suction. This usually resulted in gurgles and anemic vapor.

Long and sloooowwww....

Yeah, it does, don't it? Heh heh....
I never thought I would give a hoot about aesthetics when it came to this stuff,
but I do. Function trumps form, however, but in this case you get both.
At least, that's how I feel now that I've followed the helpful hints here and
fixed the draw to my liking. Until I monster the whole genesis/RBA thing, this is my
go-to device.

Now it feels and tastes just as good as an Evod, but bigger.
:)

Man I need to get an EVIC, the ProTank looks sexy on there!

I agree completely zipflint!

So maybe you guys can help me out. I was using the 2.5ohm PT head that came with the protank for about 5 days until it burned out, and switched to my 2.5ohm EVOD head last night. I realllyy like how it helps the airy draw, and it worked great for a few hours last night.

Now today I woke up, took a drag, and noticed my protank was gurgling and not giving me a good thick vapor cloud like it usually does. Unscewed it to see that a decent amount my juice was leaking into the center-post of the PT, and onto my battery. I took it apart, cleaned it out, put it back together and dry-dragged a few times, and I'm still having the same problem.
.. Anybody else having this problem with leaky EVOD heads on the PT, and how did you deal with it??

Guess I'll switch it out to my other stock ProTank 2.5ohm coil until I can figure this out.. I just posted a thread

I've had this happen a few times when using the ProTank with an Evod head on my eVic. I'm not sure what exactly causes it either.

All I did to "fix" it was take the base off, unscrew the head, rinse them both with hot water, and blow through the connector end of the head to expel any e-juice and/or water. I dried everything, put it all back together, and no leaking or gurgling. I do all this with the tank itself still full of e-juice, sitting upside down in one of those little acrylic eGo holders. Also might have to take a q-tip and swab out the air path in case there's any stuff in there too.

Again, this isn't really a "fix" it's just what I did and it stopped the problem.
I hope it's of some use.

I wonder if this technique would help the eVod stop gurgling/leaking/spitting? I'll give that a try in the next day or two and report back.

where exactly are you putting the plumbers tape?
I got extra coils with my Pro tank and I can't get a good vape on it b/c all I get it air.
I have plenty of plumbers tape to play around with.
thanks

Faylool,
thanks so much, with your plumbers tape trick, I can finally vape my Pro Tank.
It is frustrating to spend $17 on a tank and have to wrap it in plumbers tape to get it to vape properly!
I thought they had come out with a device we could use straight from the box, no fiddling, no modding ... finally , with
the ProTank. Not So.

Hi, not sure if it was published somewhere, but here is a story and an idea:
sometime ago I had a DID with misaligned air hole. I had to drill a new whole which was smaller then original - the draw became very airy. I closed the original one with a toothpick and now the air was coming though a smaller diameter hole only, which maid draw much tighter.

The air comes into protank from the bottom battery connector. I just tried covering 2 holes with toothpick peaces and it works great. You just need to cut off the parts of the tooth pick that stick out of the hole.
Just tested.
