Like many others that have I seen posted on this forum I too have experienced the phantom metal taste. Ive read success stories of simply replacing the stock head with a replacement head that was not included in the original packaging. Ive even seen to simply cut off the end of the rubber caps that come on almost everthing vaping related and slip over the drip tip or buy those slip on demo covers. One guy said he just uses shrink tube on all of his metal drip tips. Others have posted boiling in distilled water, dipping and or soakiing in hot distilled water, 50/50 mix of white vinegar & water, rubbing alcohol and even vodka or rum.

The thing that I did not really get clarity on was what parts are being and are safe for dipping, soaking or boiling and for what length of time. The only warnings I really seen was I think it might have been to not soak your head in rubbing alcohol because it will damage the silicone/rubber o ring seals and when soaking the heads in vinegar never getting the tastes out of your wicks. Other then that its been a trial and error with your fingers crossed.

What I am in search of is what parts are having what done to them and what is being used and for how long. I understand most coil heads are only like $1.50 but if I am constantly having this issue with other replacement heads I would like to know what is considered safe for the tank and me when I go to use it

I used hot soapy water to soak the tank. I dont boil anything.. I do this on everything I get tank wise. Take out the head. Everything else can be soaked. Forget distilled water. Isnt necessary. Just water and dawn dishwashing liquid.. Rise well.. fill and use. If that doesnt clear things up get rid of the tank and get something else.. Ive had no problem with the ones I have and metallic taste.

like I said, the metal taste is electricity flowing through your mouth piece. the only thing that will fix it, is unscrewing the head, and putting it back on. if that doesn't fix it, then totally replace the head, and i PROMISE it will fix it.

DO NOT BOIL your protank or put it in VERY HOT water. lol..... the glue used to join the pyrex to the metal will become loose after a couple times of doing this, if not the very first time you do it.... all that is required is warm water run through it and on the dis assembled parts.

I have only gotten the metallic taste when I failed to wash my protanks before using them. Of course in washing them I do check that all the connections are tight too. I figure it's just a bit of manufacture residue left on them and, it washes right off.Just take out the head, wash it like you would dirty dishes - HAND wash, don't put it in the dishwasher.

I took both tanks, removed the heads and washed the tanks in warm dishsoap and let soak for about a minute. Rinsed out real good with warm water and then ran a qtip up through the air chamber and then inside the tank to soak up the water. While I was waiting for them to air dry for a minute, I removed the wick post and rescrewed it in nice and tight. I then took one of the tanks and loaded it up some MBV candy cane and fire it up on the Vamo V3 I just got from fasttech today. Holy cow was that a 100% difference. Metal taste appears to be basically gone. Decent flavor and good vapor production at 4.3V. I will definitely make sure I clean out anything new I get as well as make it routine to clean them out using the warm water and dish soap and unscrew and rescrew the wick post to make sure it is tight.

Im just glad that I can actually use the tanks now and get to enjoying both my provari and Vamo V3.

Thank you everyone for your advice / input!
