Just got back into DIY for the $$$ savings, but I'm having the same problems that turned me off DIY the first time.

I've got a whole assortment of Lorann and Flavorart stuffs, but having trouble finding the right flavor.

I guess, first of all I like tobacco flavors, but the sweeter ones like DK Tab and RY4... MFS and Freedomsmokeusa, respectively, to be exact.

I've got the FA RY4, caramel, maple syrup, cookie along with Lorann English Toffee and a few others that I've mainly been using. I thought I'd be able to make something agreeable to my tastebuds but it's been a challenge.

The RY4 in particular. If I could get close to Freedomsmokeusa's recipe I'd be happy. But the problem I've found is that it's just not right and lacks the sweetness. The more flavor I add the worse it gets. It doesn't get sweeter and more flavorful, but sorta has dull, starchy, flavor it.

I guess, any sort of guidance would be great... I like not paying 30 bucks every month for pre-mixed liquid!

If you're using a flavoring that you don't like or that isn't good in general, adding different flavors and playing with the percentages won't do any good. Generally speaking, it's most important that you start with a good solid foundation - clean nic, clean VG/PG, and quality flavorings.

Not saying FA isn't quality, but I personally don't like any tobaccos that I've tried from them. I am not a fan of LorAnn anything. Try Hangsen for tobaccos, FA for creams/fruits/desserts, Inawera for everything, and don't be afraid to experiment with other companies (DIY Flavor Shack, TFA, Faeries Finest, Totally Wicked, Capellas, etc.)

I just recently bought DIYFS's 'Holy Holy Grail RY4', and it smells pretty good. Reminds me of TFA's RY4D but smells more rich and tobacco-y. Gonna mix some up a bit later and let it steep. I don't know if it will be good, what % to mix it at, or what flavors it will play nice with, but this experimentation is part of the process. Just dive in and try out all that you can.

Thanks... I'll have to try some of those brands out. It's been so long since I did the DIY thing. I just remember FA and Lorann being really popular back when I started. That's cool that there's all sorts of variety out there now... or at least I'm now aware of it, lol.

You can always try a different flavoring or get some EZ-Sweetz which is a liquid sweetener made from sucralose. Here is another suggestion...
TFA - Sweetener - MyFreedomSmokes.com

Lots of good DIY threads on here with some pretty smart people. Good luck to you and happy mixing. :)
Thanks... I'll look into it... not a huge fan of sucralose, but the wife would probably enjoy it for her diy mixes.

I can tell you what works for me. I prefer to kinda/sorta custom mix a RY to my likings. Hangsen RY4/RY1 are both very light on vanilla/caramel respectively and are easy to work with by adding vanilla/caramel to taste...but then any good tobacco will work. I've had excellent results using Inawera Toni D' Milano S'Camel, various vanilla's (I'm not big on caramel) and a little marshmallow. I also add INW Little Space Drop to intensify the tobacco taste.

 More flavor is just more flavor. Soon it is overwhelming and just plain gross.

Sweetener to add a bit of sweetness - EM for a hint at 2-5% for more use a sucralose sweetener/EZ-Sweets, etc.
For Sweetness and flavor change try Candy Caramel

If your Flavor taste Bad do not add more - thin with unflavored base.
Try your flavors at the bare minimum % first to get an understanding of their actual taste, then work up to strength.

Surprisingly in Flavoring Less can be more. I have found flavors that were okay at 20% and at 8% but were very good at 12%. It is easy to miss the mark.

i started not a long time ago and still get big headhaches....

if u want to get a FULL flavored juice wich is sweet and all, the only answer is mixing period.

very few flavors are good by themselves and thats it. they often miss the sweet thing or the full bodied thing, u have to mix

example..... ive made horchata from TPA at 10%, good but lack of background, added 1% bavarian cream ET VOILA

Finding a good flavoring manufacturer is half the battle.

I highly recommend hangsen or inawera flavorings.

I just got some Vapers Tek nic, and every flavor I've used tastes sweeter and stronger with it. I've long used WL nic 100% VG, and I'm using the VT 100% VG now. Using my usual flavor percents (I keep it fairly low) most flavors taste stronger, all taste sweeter, and I haven't yet found any I don't like better now. Some are massively improved, all are changed. Fruits flavors become very clear and sweeter.

If you like sweetness in your vapes, this is a way to do it with the flavorings you already have. It'll probably reduce your inclination to use sucralose or other sweeteners.

This nic has been a simple way for me to "upgrade" all my flavors at once. :D

I'm with aheadoftime and blueser, make your own RY4 using the separate ingredients and tweak to your liking. You do need a decent tobacco base and as aheadoftime and dannyv45 mentioned, you should look at Inawera and Hangsen tobaccos. Do you know what kind of tobacco you like? Which variety or which tobacco attributes you are seeking? If you do, someone may be able to point out a specific tobacco flavoring you can work with. It's going to be hard to come up with an acceptable clone on an RY4 juice, that's just my thoughts, but you can likely find an alternative that you are just as happy with.
