I really like using the ecig but I have an issue and I'm sure I can't be the only one thinking this that is starting out with them. I hate that they don't have any resistance when you take a puff off of them. With all the modifications every one does, how can I change the draw on them. I have plugged up holes on the battery but I read somewhere that is not good. That is really the only hurdle I'm having at this time, well that and I really like ce2 r4 cartos but just bought a bunch of coolcarts and trying to justify buying more of the ceramic ones (lol). If anyone can tell me how to fix this, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance.:2cool:

You're not the only one that has this problem. And, I don't believe this is a problem specifically with a V4L product, I had it with different batts and carts. I only use KR808D-1 batteries, so maybe these are just wimpy batteries (???) I don't know. I've tried putting a small rubber band around the holes.....and that helps a little, but still doesn't give me a good hard draw.

Like you, I'm waiting to hear from some of the veteran vapors

Well 808s are def not wimpy batts, they run 3.7 and most regular ecig batts run below that.I got my perfect vape by going to 5v and using an 808 adapter w/V4L cartos.Nice, hard, strong vape.I used the Xlong manuals for a long time though.Best ecig type batt I found.Still use them on fancy nights out!

See I would love to do that, but those type of batteries/mods cost over $100 when all said and done. Which I'm sorry, but the day I have to buy some thing as simple as that for that much money to smoke ecig I will just go back to normal cigs ... I wish a company would make a $50 or less one that works and is good quality.

I don't know the answer to that question but to be clear, I cut the tape into a thin strip so that all the threads on the batt aren't wrapped. All the airholes are covered but only the first couple of threads closest to the LED are wrapped. Will this cause a problem...I'm not the person to ask. I know very little about voltage, grounding, resistance, Ohms, etc...I only know what worked for me.
In a thread a while back, someone mentioned cutting the bottom off a condom and sliding it down over the connection between the battery and the carto (using it as a slip cover). This also cut down on the air intake. This is another option if you don't want to mess around with the battery itself.

I AM JUST SO RELIEVED I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS PROBLEM. THANK YOU FOR THE OTHER OPTIONS TO GET MORE RESISTANCE. I TOO WOULD NOT EVEN USE IT, IF I CAN'T MAKE IT HAVE A HARDER DRAW ON IT. I GUESS THAT IS PART OF MY ADDICTION TO SMOKING. I ENJOY SMOKING AND WHEN I CAN GET MY VAPING FIGURED OUT, I KNOW I WILL LIKE IT ALOT MORE THAN I EVER LIKED SMOKING. I'VE ALREADY GONE FROM OVER 2 PACKS A DAY TO LESS THAN ONE, EVEN WHILE WORKING OUT THE BUGS AND THE LEARNING CURVE LOL.

I have the opposite problem. On my newer batteries I like the airy draw but on my older batteries the draw is very tight especially with the new cartos. Does anybody have a suggestion to get a little better draw on these? They are starting to give me a headache because I have to draw harder on them. It also seems like the center post is further down on the older ones with no way to fix it. I have to use old regular cartos (the ones I bought at the beginning in Feb of this year which I'm running out of) to even make a connection to the post. All of them are manual XLs.

I take the pick part of those pentec plastic floss thingys and twist the pick into all holes until it breaks off in the hole. Adds a TON of resistance to all my batts, (really nice on my autos) and I get just as much vapor and maybe a bit more because of the easier ability to "slow roast" carts when you have more resistance.

I hear people are saying that plugging holes is bad for a battery? I cant imagine how. Anybody care to elaborate on that?

Yeah, I've taken wood tooth picks and broke off the point in the holes until I get the draw I want and I've not seen any battery degredation. I would only think the cart would be the only thing to suffer because with less air flowing across the heating element (atty) it will get hotter. But there again, I've not had any problems with carts either by doing this. Have at it.

I use Flavor Bands from Vapography on my "too-airy"s. You can have the band cover all the holes, (NOT a good idea), or roll it / tilt it to were it sits down a little on one side a little leaving that side's hole(s) open.

I do that too! :)

Or I use a cut condom and cover half the holes.

Not to knock V4L, because I just converted a friend recently who ordered one of their starter kits at my suggestion... but I wouldn't blame the batts, when there is a problem with the draw being too 'airy', it's usually the fault of the carto... I have tried many different brands and they all vary!!
In fact, I just got a 4081 t0 510 adapter so I can be able to use a 510 atty/cart combo on my batts... :vapor:

(btw, NOT a good idea to start plugging holes!!)

It appears that a simple/inexpensive solution or two has been offered in this thread. Cool.

But, I don't understand the thinking in bold above. Granted, I don't know what a carton of cigarettes costs in Ga, but in NY it's well over $100 and that would only last me (back in the day) about a week! How would a $100 investment in a device that would last a year or more cause anyone to go back to smoking from a monetary point of view?

People are still saying not to plug holes but still no explanation why.

I found this as it applies to attys, but it would still be the same for cartos... they explain it better than I could:

The holes are where you get the air that mixes with the mist as you drag on the PV. Though covering them gets you a stronger hit in terms of vapor and throat hit, understand that another function of the holes is to help cool the heating element in the atomizer as this air runs over it - very helpful if your cart is almost empty and the wick is somewhat dry. I once soldered them all nearly closed on an m40x series atty and I've found that covering them shortens the life of the atty somewhat, probably because it runs hotter.

Hope that helps... View attachment 23384

Interesting...

I think I may experiment with this. I will take 2 carts from the same box, and vape one on a batt with 3 plugged holes how I like it, and one on an untouched batt and see if I get any results. I will count the number of hits I get till dry on each. Then when dry, I will refill both and use them both on an untouched batt and see if in fact the cart that was used on the plugged batt actually has a shortened life span.
