Howdy!

My newest REO arrived yesterday! Hello Woodvil! But, bad news on it. It tastes like wood finish and oil so bad I cannot use it. I have let it sit out on my deck for 2 hours today, ran vodka through the tubing and the catch cup, and it STILL tastes horrible. It is like I am vaping strawberry flavored french fry grease. :-(

What have some of you tried to get rid of the tung oil taste? I read that pianoman put his out in the sun for a while. The smell did decrease, but the taste is still there. Let me know what you all would suggest I try. :)

I just reassembled it and thankfully, the taste is pretty much gone. I was worried it was still going to taste funky because the feeder tube smells like the oil really bad. But so far, running this second nicliquid batch with a new carto seems to be working much better. I guess we will see how the next couple of days unfold with it!

From what I can tell...now that I got my li'l Woodvil, its from the inside that doesn't have the poly on it. When I open my mod, I can smell it ...and its strong. But, I'm too busy vaping it to open it up and leave it outside to air. Maybe on the weekend or something..................................ya....right.

I've had mine just over a week now. :)

The flavor seems to be much worse when using a carto. The filler or batting in the carto becomes saturated with the tung odor and won't go away. Better to use an atty until the mod has aired out if you have an atty on hand.

I got mine today, and I can taste it as well. The sense of smell and taste is different from one person to the next, but it at least seems as though I am tasting it. Currently I am just vaping through it because I know it will pass. Oh, I am using a 510 atty and a drip tip.
That being said, it vapes like a ....!

I have two Woodvils, both have Walnut bodies.
(Photos below.)

The first one was not vapeable for 3 weeks.
The smell was STRONG.
(The plastic bottle was even saturated with the odor.)
I tried a number of methods to reduce the smell.
The most effective was drying it on the sweater rack inside of my clothes dryer.

The second one had less smell on day one, than the first one did after 3 weeks.

I got mine yesterday. It was so bad that even when I used the same atty on my Grand, the atty still tastes like the oil... Uggg... I put it on the window sill open and hoping it will be fine.. the smell is terrible, and the taste is even worse... My next step if the smell does not go away in 3 days is to put it in the oven on very low temp.. see what happens.

Man, sounds like a few of us are having this problem. :-(

As someone mentioned, I do use a carto. And it makes total sense that the "smell/taste" is getting stuck in the batting of the carto. However, I can hardly keep it in the same room with me! The smell is so strong! I used a new carto and it started off ok. After an hour vaping on it, back to oil taste. :-( I had to completely toss the 6mL bottle that came with it because the smell was so strong. I let it soak in vodka all day and it didn't remotely remove the oil smell.

Guess I am gonna try to let it air out on the deck again this weekend. And I may try the oven idea. I have never used attys before, so I may have to resort to ordering one and trying that. Thankfully I have my Mini to get me through until the oil taste/smell issue is resolved. Kinda disappointed though. :-( I really hope this resolves over the next few days/weeks. If not, I may end up with serious buyers remorse over this. I guess my non-smoking sense of smell/taste is super sensitive!
