So I just got my Squape clone in but it reeks of machine oil. I tried soaking it in water, then soaking in water with Dawn dish soap. It still smells and tastes oily. Any suggestions?
Vodka? Everclear? The old household tips were to fight fire with fire. I you had oil on your clothes, use oil to get it out. Then a cleaner that would remove that oil. So try using vegetable oil to get rid of the machine oil, then dawn or vodka to get rid of the other.
Atomizers used to be primed with some sort of foul oil or PG/VG that we used to blow out before loading and using. I haven't seen that in a couple of years, though. Try blowing it out into a towel before you resort to radical methods.
Don't just soak it in Dawn, take an old toothbrush and scrub it. Take it apart as much as you're comfortable with and get in all the nooks and crannies. I do it in the kitchen sink in a bowl on an upside down plate on a towel that covers the drain to avoid losing any parts. I then rinse twice with alcohol, Volkov or Everclear PGA for preference, 91% isopropyl will do also. If three rounds of that doesn't do it I don't know what will.
Scott, when you get rid of that oil, please let us know wich method did you used that worked correctly.
I have 4 Rebuildable tanks coming in from overseas and im allready wondering how to clean them properly before using them.
thanks!
Ok I soaked in both vodka then in vinegar, rinsed well and it seemed to be gone. This thing is quite nice. No girls, leaks, or problems yet great vapor and much easier to fill than a kayfun.
