I'm not sure it's a good idea to put your woodvil in an oven, even at a low temperature. Tung oil is flammable. Actually, the oil itself isn't the problem, but the solvents used to thin tung oil are highly flammable and combustible.

I'd suggest that you put your woodvil (with the door removed) in a well ventilated room; or, better yet, outside where it can "breathe" in fresh air.

When I first got my woodvil, it had a slight odor, but nothing too objectionable. At least it wasn't to my nose :)

Let the mod air out it will go away nothing to worry about I can assure you your not tasting tung oil there is no tung oil to be tasted. I have to seal the mods there is no way around it. When you first get the mod its been locked in a box it will be strong. I use 100% tung oil on the boxes. Softer woods like padauk walnut will hold the odor a little longer then some of the harder woods .

I will keep trying to air it out. I am definitely tasting something though when I vape on it though. The outside of the mod doesn't really smell at all. The inside of the mod is super super strong smelling. It is so strong that the plastic tubing and the bottle have completely absorbed the smell. I am going to leave it out in a drafty area this weekend and see if it helps. :)

I could taste it on mine too. One of mine took about 3 weeks to go away and the other about a week.

I think every thing has been covered but this is what I've learned.

Can't use a carto on them for the first few weeks. The smell soaks into the filler and it's bad.
Leave them with the door off as much as you can.
Use the second bottle that was in the ziploc during shipping.

It's not getting in the juice but you do taste it because the smell is mixing with the air in the catch cup as you vape.

All I can add is it does go away ..... Its just a long time for some. Once it's gone your enjoying the best working PV out there so it's well worth the wait.

Thank you!!!! :) I really need to get an atty. I have always been a carto only user. :-( Minus the funky taste, I LOVE the woodvil! The vapor, the smoothness of the switch, the response of the mod..... everything else about it is 2 thumbs up!

Hey all, I just wanted to post an update on getting the taste/smell out of your woodvil. I got mine on Thursday and after vaping it for a few hours, I decided to go to bed and let it air out. I took the door, atty, battery, and bottle off of the mod. I blew out through the atty (while it was connected of course) to drain the juice in the tube back into the bottle. Then I placed the mod right in front of a fan and left it over night.

The next day, the taste was still there, but I decided to vape through it anyways. When I was at my desk, I chose to take the door off and vape with it that way to let it air out while I was using it. That night I dug around in some old boxes I had and found one of those silica packets. So I did the same thing as the night before, except this time I put one of those packets in the mod... I just laid it in the bottom with the mod on its back, everything out, in front of the fan for the night. Today I think the taste is almost gone.

So my suggestions would be to try and find something that absorbs odor or moisture, put it in the mod and place the mod in front of something that produces a slight constant airflow and leave it like that at night. The other would be to take the door off while you vape it in a stationary position. I can't say for sure, but it seemed to help me.

Cheers :)

{edit} I just found a website that sells those silica gel packs: http://www.silicagelpackets.com/ Now, I have no way of knowing whether this company is worth anything, I'll let you guys look around. But, they can be had. Oh, and Rob, you might research putting these in the mods while you ship them, it might help, but I am no expert :)

Yes, it has an odor...yes, it goes away- took mine a couple of weeks before I didn't notice it anymore.
The negative vaping experience or no taste from smelling it, which is a big part of taste too.
Let me suggest these if you don't take the time to air it out and want to vape with it anyway:

Just got my Woodvil from a member of ECF. Beautiful, awesome, and smells and tastes terrible. Going to follow some of the suggestions in this thread.
Anyone have anything else to add as solutions to this problem?
Thanks

It seemed like the longer I had my Woodvil, the stronger the tung oil odor and taste got. I finally am able to happily vape it after pulling the bottle and battery out and leaving it in front of a fan for four days.

You have a used Woodvil and not a brand new with the tung oil smell. So I would say your tubing and catch cup might be the culprit. Keep your battery out while doing this. Take off any atomizer or carto. Take off the bottle. Is it clean and clear? Might want to soak it in some PGA or Everclear. Take a Q-tip and use the PGA to clean the cap inside. You can put the bottle on with PGA inside. Turn the Woodvil upside down and squeeze, let the PGA run out the catch cup. You could also without the bottle, use a syringe and force PGA in the tube and out the cup. Clean the inside of the catch cup good with the Q-tip soaked in PGA. This should clean the whole feeding system.
Hope this helps!
