How to get the most out of my setups?

Hi all,
My name's Kevin and I'm new to this forum so I thought I'd say hellur.
I like long Anyways, I have a couple questions for you professionals out there:

1) I've been scratching the surface lately with regard to researching battery/ sub-ohm safety (which I admittedly should have started a while ago), but I've run into a lot of conflicting info online. So, which batteries would be best with my current setups? At the moment, I'm using a Sigelei 150w v1 (no tc, just OG box-y goodness) with a smok TFV4 (with the TF-Q4 coils atm). I also have an ipv D2 75w TC with an Arctic v2 (ni200 coils - I gained a whole new appreciation for this pairing after learning how to use the TC/ Joule Mode), and a Fuhatton clone with one of those Turbo RDA's with god-like airflow (my friend recently put a .12-.13 build on it, so I haven't been using it much as I want to be sure it will be safe to use in my Sigelei or the clone with the right batteries).
If you have any links to some good deals on any recommended batteries for sub-ohm vaping that would be much appreciated!

You don't want cheap, you want economical.

What sort of a budget are you working with? Because if you can stretch your budget up around the $150 - $200 area, I would really suggest a DNA200.

Although I don't own one, the Snow Wolf 200w TC mod seems to be getting some good press, and it can be found for around (or less than) $100 if you shop around.

Ya I was thinkin' about the Snow wolf, but do you have any experience with the sigelei 150w tc or Fuchai 200w tc, the Smok X Cube II 160w tc or Koopor Plus, or the the SMY 170 by any chance?

Other than my DNA40, the only other TC mod I have is the Sigelei 75 watt, and I'm really happy with it. I've been carrying it almost daily since I bought it earlier this year and it's been trouble-free.

Rad, I feel the same way about my d2. Time for an upgrade though... Both my mods have a lot of wear and tear after dozens of drops each haha

Hi and welcome. In the regulated mods, I recommend Samsung 25Rs or LG HE 2s or HE4s under 60ish watts, and Sony VTC4s above, plus in all mechanicals. A .12 build at 4.2 volts draws 35 amps, and this is far too much for any single battery mech. There are no batteries commonly available with that king of ampacity, so don't go there. Keep those ultra low builds on your regulated mods. I use mechs a lot, and I like tube mods, but I start to get nervous below about .45, and I use the Sonys. I have a Snow Wolf 200 watt machine, and I love it. Good luck and stay safe.

Thanks for the heads up! So just to be clear it's perfectly fine to hit my .12 build RDA on my old Sigelei 150w? I had thought that was the case, but do I need to use ONLY batteries that are rated 35+ Amps? That's the part where I've been getting confused... I'm gonna go look more into ohm's law, along with battery safety in general.
And you're diggin' the Snow Wolf? That's definitely my number 1 choice as it looks extremely well built from what I've seen of it... I'm just not sure whether I should hold off on purchasing a new mod altogether and wait for the new Sigelei 200w iPhone lookin' beast. It looks like it's going to be released around Christmas/ New Years if I had to guess, but they haven't set a release date for it and patience is not my strong suit.

There are no REAL 35A batteries out there. Lots of batteries are labeled that way, but it's false advertising. The best you can get is 30A CRD. Sony VTC4's and LG HB6's. The Sonys will last longer on a charge.

There really isn't any such thing as a 35 amp battery. The LG HB6s are rated at 30 amps, and test there (so do the HB3s, but you can't actually find any). I use the Sonys because, while they are rated 20 amps, they can actually give up to 30 without dangerous temperature rise according to @Mooch 's bench tests. In general, if you're using a regulated mod, and you've got the Sonys in it, that's about the best you can do, unless you want really high current-- you won't get there in a Siggie Old Skool 150-- and if the mod will fire the atty you should be OK. Just stay away from super low builds mounted on one battery tube mech mods. A two battery parallel mechanical box would fire it, more or less safely, but that's really cutting the safety margin very thin, my friend. The resistance used for dead short testing of batteries is .07 ohms. A .12 build is not that far off. Ask me, it's not worth it. There really isn't anything you can do at .12 cloud-wise you can't do at .25-- voltage drop starts to rear its ugly head-- and the taller coil is a lot safer. That's on you, I'm not trying to tell you what to do. But I am emphatically saying I wouldn't do it. Our resident battery guru-- or one of them-- Mooch, is a EE who works with battery power packs for a living, and he has provided us with a vape battery selection chart to which I commend your attention as being very useful.

And yes, I like my Snow Wolf a very great deal. I have the old V1, and it does not have upgradable firmware, but the new ones do and can do Ti wire as well as Ni200, plus regular wattage mode for Kanthal or NiChrome, of course. Caveat: it's beautiful, but it has glass doors which show every fingerprint and will crack if you drop it. I recommend a silicone sleeve. Here's mine, wearing a Fishbone V1 coiled .3 ohms. She's a steam-throwin' cloud chucker at 70 watts, which is as hot as I can stand:

Your sig 150 probably wont even fire that rda, pretty sure mine only go to .21 or so. Definitely ask your buddy to drop in a build into your rda that is more like .28 to .30 so you can use it on your mechanical! I like the Fuhattan a lot, just watch the 510 pin falling out when you take a battery out before you take the dripper off

Ya definitely, I used to have that problem with my old manhattan clone. That thing ended up falling apart like it was made out of legos lol... I actually just read the ohms on my Turbo RDA build and it came in at .124 and it's definitely workin' on my Sigelei, to say the least. I hit it a few times at 60-80 watts and the result was awesome cloud production and flavor (tasted like I was smoking an actual swedish fish haha) with a smooth, cool hit
