I've been vaping since November 2010 and my biggest complaint at first was not enough throat hit.
Thru trial and error, I now
always get enough TH.
For good throat hit, I combine some or all of these things:
1. Check my atomizer or cartomizer resistance and make sure my voltage is at least 1 higher. For example, if my resistance reads 2.8 ohms, I'll set my variable voltage Provari to 3.8 volts. If that's not enough, I add another couple tenths of a volt. If you have no voltage meter and/or variable volt toy, see #3!!!!
2. Use as big a battery as possible. More mAh means stronger voltage during the drag (less voltage drop).
3.
Fully charged battery. 900 mAh or bigger.
4. No more than 40% VG in final mix of juice.
5. 5% PGA or less, since it evaporates at such a low temp and cools the hit (warmer equals more TH)
6. Waiting longer between drags - maybe the best way to make any drag better is to delay it.

7. Sharp, quick inhale after
slow drag to concentrate the vapor. I start the drag without closing the back of my throat (direct inhale) and stop dragging when I start to feel the TH. The extra slap in the throat from the fast inhale combined with the thick vapor does it for me every time, unless I get greedy and take hits without pausing long enough. After 3 or 4 hits, I put it down for a bit.
8. Good throat-hitting flavors, like RY4, cinnamon, clove(careful!!), menthol, perique black.
I get enough TH to cough. I don't need or want more than that.
