After switching from atomizers to cartomizers, I found the draw on the eGo to be much too stiff. It turns out the diameter of the black paper wrapped cartomizers is 9.44mm whereas the diameter of the atomizer is 9.09mm. This causes a huge reduction in airflow.
All you need to do to fix it is shorten the shroud just a hair. Because of the taper, this brings it down to a point where the diameter is a little bigger and it gives the needed clearance. This also makes the cartomizers easier to replace because they don't stick to the shroud as you're turning them. There is no cosmetic change to the eGo if you do this carefully.
I would recommed doing this with a belt or disc sander and 150 grit paper. I suppose you could also do it with a file but that is likely to mar the finish. Go slow so it doesn't overheat - just sand a little, wait, sand a little, wait. Only takes a few seconds.
I didn't need to fine tune this. Once the restriction is eliminated, the impedance is controlled by the cartomizer and is just right.
