Using a centrifuge is an easy way to get almost all the e-juice out of an atty or carto. Here's how to make on for under $1.00.
Get 1 foot of clear plastic tubing from a hardware store (mine cost me $0.39 per foot). I cut off about 5 inches to make the centrifuge (the length isn't critical).
Then you will need the strongest thread you can find, and a needle big enough to accomodate the thread. I used some thread that I had for leather working, and a leather-sewing needle. I also used a pair of needle-nose pliers to push and pull the needle through the clear plastic tubing.
Push the threaded needle straight through the middle of the tubing, from side to side, about 1/2 inch from the bottom. Once you get the thread through both sides, leave about 2 inches of thread hanging out loose. Then take the needle and rotate the tubing 90 degrees and sew across the tube again. When you're done, you'll have a "figure X" or "cross" of thread, across the inside of the tube. Then cut off the needle and tie the ends together outside the tubing. That finishes the bottom of the centrifuge tube.
Now rethread the needle and push the thread through JUST ONE SIDE of the tubing at the top. It's easiest if you push from INSIDE the tubing to the outside. Then rotate the tubing 180 degrees and push the needle from the outside to the inside. Cut off the thread leaving about 3-4 inches of eash thread hangin loose from the mouth of the tubing. That way you have a single thread that goes into the tube, through one wall, then around to the other side of the tube, through that wall, and back out the mouth. Tie the 2 loose ends together, well away from the tubing's mouth, and you're done!
Just a note; I thought about doing all this "thread" work using cut-off solid guitar strings, which would make the device stronger. You may want to try this, and tape down the sharp ends on the outside of the tube.
To use the centrifuge, I drop a DEAD AAA battery down the tube mouth and let it rest against the thread "cross" at the bottom. Then I insert a carto or atty, opened up and with the open end down. I first put a "carto condom" over the open end, to catch the liquid I'm about to centrifuge out. Then I clip an ID card neck lanyard onto the centrifuge's top threads, and spin away! About 5 or 6 spins is usually enough to get the job done. If I don't care about reclaiming the e-juice, I substitute a cotton ball for the carto condom. Once finished, I can poke everything up and out of the centrifuge using any long narrow tool, like a chopstick or coffee stir stick or straw (that's why the open "X" in the bottom).
