That depends on the grit you use, don't go using anything too rough. It might be hard to recover from that, but it should be pretty easy to get it matching, if not really close to the original finish.
@danca90: I like having the original look, lol. thanks though.
@raycecar: What grit would you recommend for the nzonic's finish? And if I were to want a brushed metal look, what grit?
search yelp for metal polishing. look for reviews about restoring damaged metal items. If you're not mechanically inclined and/or are afraid of damaging your mod, go to a pro
ooh, thats hard.. I have a brass poldiac that i have to polish every day. today i accidentally put it in my pocket with my keys and it got a bit scratched. When i got home, i busted out the polish and applied some elbow grease. then i busted out the dremel, and put the buffing bit on it and the scratches came off after a while..

I can honestly say that without a lathe you probably will not be happy with the finish you put on it. My suggestion would be to leave it as is, with out proper tools you will more than likely make it worse. But for a brushed finish I would say around a 240 would be good. If you have a picture of the blemish I may be able to offer more insight.
@laythor Thanks! I don't think I can justify the prices for such a minor blemish. I will definitely look into it though!
@abstractcousin Ooh that's tough, I'll keep that in mind.
@danG cant really capture the blemish on camera :/

Wow... that is a tough one... if you hit it with sand paper you will have a hard time getting it to not look crisscross. I would say tape off the brass above and below it start with a 240 sand paper and keep going finer and finer. Once you get to like a 1200 or even finer use the dremel and polishing pad. But like I said it may turn out worse. Is there laser etching on that part with the dings?

It is advisable to start at 800 then work your way down to maybe 400. If that is not satisfactory then go to maybe 300 then 240. It takes longer but you will be less likely to go too coarse.
