HA! Poeia has my favorite ha ha picture up. I am a little dense you see, I thought those avatars looking at me were the faces of people posting to me.....which led me to think Poeia was some funky NY tranny the very first time I came to the thag forum.
I did quickly figure out I was so wrong and instead she is some brilliant, well spoken lady instead. :)
It is Saturday, ......I am finding no amusement here in internet land. Guess I'll go back to dishes and cookin supper.
I survived my ten day stint, erand day on Monday and running off to IN for a couple days. Bringing my overpowered battery operated devices with me, of course!

Never knew you were a large swamp-thing.

I realized I hadn't put this one up for a while and it's also Norrie's favorite. But it always makes me miss MastiffMike.

Yep, a big green creature from the black lagoon! ;) LOL! Made me miss him too. I never had been to a forum before where folks used other pics besides themselves, their critters or kids. Plus, yeah, MM was at his best behavior here so I thought everyone was a bit on the nutty side.
Place hasn't been the same since.

Damn, I kinda wish I had Hugh's legs. I got quarter horse legs...sometimes it is just not fair!

Anyhoo, HI POEIA. I just survived ten days of straight work at the paying job along with the husbands shop squeezed in between. Had about one hour sleep in between shifts and I am a bit wacked at the moment.

I think a chuck head reunion needs to be scheduled, we need to get this thread up to page 2400.

I don't like having my picture taken. And I'm certainly not posting it. And, at HHoW, people think you're nuts if your avatar wasn't Hugh or one of the other cast members. (Okay, in the last few years some people have branched out to include Dr. Who.)

I once used a really great picture of an iceberg and people PMed me, confused, because they couldn't figure out what it was and what it had to do with Hugh.

It took me a short bit of time in here to figure out the avatar thing. LOL! I don't get out much, RW or cyber world but that was ages ago. I haven't been that creative with avi's myself. Figured out how to upload my pics and my ol big dog makes me happy-I miss her much. The boxer's end is near now and I really have no idea what I will do without having big dogs around :(

Been watching a ton of house reruns of the dvr. I just saw the broken episodes. Those were actually kind of good. Now I am stuck with the whole relationship thing, kind of boring. I don't follow it too much since the only time/reason I watch tv is to fall asleep.

Bought the True Grit remake....errrr I mean adaptation. I was sorely disappointed. Probably will be a few more years before I actually catch a 'recent' movie.

True Grit is recent. And I love Jeff Bridges. But I haven't seen it. (I don't like most westerns although I do have a soft spot for Audie Murphy.)

ETA: btw, if you want legs like Hugh's, a good place to start is taking up competitive rowing.

Yes, it just came out on dvd....that is the most recent one I have watched in ages, it will be sometime soon before I get to a recent movie again. I don't do movie theaters but once every couple years, can't sit still and be that confined.

LOL on the rowing, won't make my calves any longer! And I am guessing after one look at me, I wouldn't be allowed in the club. ;)

My mice are finally all gone too! Course come fall, it is a different story out here. This year I will be ready for them!

Best get a move on, checked back to see if Jeff had given up who finally got the chrome one. I decided my next chuck will be one to mark my 25th wedding anniversary or my divorce! ;)

Sorry ladies, I have been real busy myself, and thus not very attentive to this stately old thread. I woke up at 4 AM Saturday, thought it was going to be a great day. Found a Krispy Kreme here in town (they came back). Picked up a half dozen. Ate two... yep Saturday was looking good. Got in the shower and got hit with the worst case of vertigo I have ever had. I usually have a go around with vertigo every year or two. This round put me down, flat on my back for most of the day. By 5PM I was able to sit up in bed without the world spinning. Did some research and found that I already had some Meclizine... I was ...... (that I had it and didn't know it). I had been lying there trying to figure out how I could make it to Walgreens and back. Long story short is that I took a few and was able to lay on my side by 10 PM. I hate sleeping on my back, so laying on my side was an important milestone. Slept good most of Sat night. Got up Sunday and was able to mow the front yard and get 2 loads of laundry done. Other than that, just laid around feeling punk... So much for the weekend. Feeling better now, as long as I take the Meclizine twice a day. I got past that mandatory :censored:ty Monday. Hopefully today will be a better day.

Have a great Tuesday. :)

Glad you are feeling better Ralph.
Yeup, just keeping the thread going. Going out of town with all my kids today, if they ever decide to freakin get here. Oh well, at least I miss the rush hour traffic down 88, which I hate driving on. Actually I hate going towards the city period, thank god I just have to scootch around it. Oh, but the cool thing is (insert a buttload of sarcasm here) I get to drive along the edge of the beautiful little town of Michael Jackson's childhood. We will be sure to all take a moment to reflect.

Picked up a dodge charger at the rental place. It was that or some Nissan thing. Something tells me the mpg isn't going to be great and it isn't a hemi but still kinda fun to drive.
Best go find out why my children are not here yet. Have a better week.

Poor Ralph. I have positional vertigo but it's been pretty under control for the last few years. I'll begin to feel a little wobbly but I can usually control it before it becomes a full-out attack. My dad started getting "it feels like I'm going to fall off the bed" dizziness since he got the flu a couple of months ago. My two favorite tricks have really been helping him:

1) Don't try to move in two directions at the same time. Stand up. Stop. Step forward. A lot of vertigo is caused by a disconnect between what your ear senses and what your eye sees so let them adjust to each new plane before you move to another one. (My worst incidents were always throwing myself on the bed and rolling over and standing and walking in the same motion.)

2) When the spinning starts, pick a spot on the far wall at about eye level -- a picture, a crack in the plaster -- anything that you can focus on. Every time the room tries to spin, keep your eyes on that spot and pull it into focus.

Good luck. Vertigo is the pits.

how much for the new york yankees one?

kaykay, all Chucks are made to order so that one has undoubtedly been claimed. But it's not the first Yankees Chuck and I'm sure it won't be the last. Amy's right about talking to Jeff. That one is gorgeous. Yours can be moreso.

BTW, Chucks aren't only beautiful. They are the best mods available (IMHO)

Have a very safe, and fun trip Amy. :) You deserve a break!

Thanks for the tips Poeia. Yep, I started getting vertigo about 15 years ago. The military docs said it was probably caused by some latent viral infection, and would come and go for the rest of my life. Prescribed Antivert, which was not OTC back then. It was so bad this weekend, that I couldn't keep my eyes from dancing if I rolled onto my side... even a very slow roll. Kinda hard to keep donuts down when your brain thinks you are moving and is convinced enough to make your eyes play along. So, on Saturday, it was "pick a spot on the ceiling" day. I didn't eat much Saturday and very little vaping. Sunday was a bit better. Better still Monday and today.

The only possible clue I can think of that this was coming on was I had some water in my right ear last Wednesday. Kinda squeaked when I chewed. Maybe that is related, maybe not. Hopefully I wont have to do any under desk work, which becuase of the positioning, always causes me problems.

For water in the ear, a friend who is a doctor once recommended using a hair dryer. Don't blast into the ear, just make the area around the ear a little warmer to encourage evaporation. Decongestants also work but I can't take them. I react as if I'm on speed.

I would have thought that the humidity levels (or lack thereof) in Albuquerque would take care of water in the ear pretty quickly.
