As you all know when you put in a fresh coil they usually taste strange for the first 20-30 drags.

The best way I have found to minimize this is to soak it in water for a minute or so and then screw it in and put in the liquid into your tank.

For the first few drags you will not get a lot of vapor due to there been water in the coils, but once it has soaked in the liquid it should taste fine.

I hope I have helped any of you who don't like that new cotton taste!

wouldn't that gurgle like mad and drip water into the AFC, I could imagine blowing the access water out of the coil first and then screwing it into the tank...
I'm a freak though, I actually like that new coil taste haha, goes well with custard lol

I don't know about cotton since I haven't used it in eons. I use rayon in my builds and from the year+ of rayon use I can say that if you have any sorta breakin taste then your atty is wicked wrong (either too tight or too loose). Almost all my rayon builds have NO breakin taste.
I used hemp fiber instead if cotton and I had to clean out all the off colored shards and bunnies or my hemp had a woodzy taste.
I've never heard of putting water into a coil but you can poke and prod the head if its a stock head with a pin to loosen up the wicking to help with juice flow. I have read that some wicking in the stock heads are too tight and cause issues with juice flow.

I don't have experience with rba's but with pre-builts this is true. I had to throw the coils out cuz I washed the prebuilt ones after changing flavors and didn't have the patience to let them dry. For the first 10-20 drags the thing just won't hit, no flavor, actually yes flavor, weird flavor of some juice and alot of water...

I'm gonna 2nd @AlterUrEgo... I don't get any off flavors with a freshly wicked coil since switching to rayon over a year ago.
It used to be the "Thing" a while back to boil several cotton balls to remove the sizing and minimize off flavors but I'll admit, I am far too impatient for all that, and I didn't notice a real significant improvement.
Rayon is a quick wick-n-go with nice clean flavor.
