I'm wondering if there arw any issues with the rayon and leaking vs cotton?
Not once you get the hang of it.

Rayon does not Swell like Cotton. It gets wet, but transfers liquid along its strands faster than cotton.

Everyone has <Their> way, and that's fine so long as it works. I use several Orchid tanks. Dual coils and large channels with 2 air holes right on the Deck.
I never place Rayon into the channels and very rarely have a leak. It took some practice, but finding the proper fit of the wicking make all the difference.

Northern NJ native , Coastal NC now.
Viscose Cellulose, sodium hydroxide, carbon disulfide, caustic soda . A molecular chain length between 800 and 10,000 molecules while Rayon typically has a chain length of around 300 molecules.

Whew , for a minute there i was afraid you were going to use words that i would have zero idea what the possible meanings could be , thanks for keeping it simple as even a caveman could figure the above info out :thumb:.

Yea, now where did I put that dictionary?
That mouth full would confuse a lot of people......... Fortunately I looked it all up back a few months when everyone started discussing Cell-u-cotton. Still took a month to make the decision to try it out.

OOPS!!!
I always thought rayon was a wood cellulose.

Ummm, no.

There is no cotton at all in Rayon. It is made from chemically treated wood pulp and is considered a semi-synthetic fiber.

Cellulose is cellulose is cellulose. Doesn't matter if it's "natural" or "synthetic," cellulose is just cellulose. To paraphrase: cellulose, by any other name, would wick as great.

Rayon and cotton are both composed primarily of cellulose fibers. The difference is that rayon, being "synthetic" can be made nearly 100% pure cellulose, whereas cotton, being a "naturally-grown" product, is also full of proteins and long-chain carbon molecules and all sorts of other "organic" stuff you don't necessarily want in there if you can avoid it.

Actually, no, cellulose is not cellulose. There are four different types of Cellulose. Cotton is Cellulose I and Rayon is Cellulose III. Rayon is Viscose Cellulose, a regenerative form of cellulose. To create it the raw cellulose from wood is broken down with sodium hydroxide, carbon disulfide, caustic soda, and finally is pulled through an acid bath to create the fibers. Once the fibers are created they are dried and bleached to make them white.

They are different on a molecular level. Cotton has a molecular chain length between 800 and 10,000 molecules while Rayon typically has a chain length of around 300 molecules.

I didn't mean to start a conflict here... Sorry, I should choose my wording better!
What I was trying to convey was that Cotton is made of Cellulose, but with other organic compounds in it. Rayon is nearly pure Cellulose.
Yeah, there are differences in them at the molecular level, but to not confuse, which I obviously did, is Rayon is like cotton in a refined form. Did that work? :)

I have a Sally'e literally right across the street, I don't know if If I want to get 500 feet of it in case I don't like it. They have smaller packages?
They do have smaller packs. The one I got was 2 or 3 bucks for a couple of feet. I personally don't care for it. I just vape through a couple drags of Japanese organic. Then the taste is gone.

Yes sir, I love me some cellu. It doesn't break down as as easy as the bacon pads. It definitely doesn't taste like it either.
Its easy to use, just pull of desired amount and enjoy. +1

I must say that the 500 ft box is a bit much, thats a life time of wicks. If your just trying it out for the first time I suggest a smaller amout.
Im still using a couple feet a member sent me to try out last year. I haven't even put a dent in the lil baggy he sent me.
